Acharya NG Ranga Agriculture University was established on March 20, 1965, by the then Prime Minister Late Shri. Lal Bahadur Shastri. ANGRAU is recognized by the University Grants Commission. Initially, this university was established under the name of Andhra Pradesh Agriculture University on June 12, 1964, through the APAU Act in 1963.
