Global Health MD at American University of Antigua, Antigua Offline Course

American University of Antigua College of Medicine (AUA) Global MD Program is a four-year programme in collaboration with Florida International University (FIU). 

Global MD Program consists of the following two components :

1. Basic Sciences: This 2-year Basic Science Component is conducted on the AUA campus in Antigua and consists of five 2-week blocks. In addition to various Global Health topics, students also are introduced to research methodology, Medical Spanish. They are also given American Heart Association instructor training in BCLS and ACLS. Students must have a minimum of 80% attendance to pass each block.

The Basic Sciences Integration Course (BSIC) is taught during 5th semester to prepare students for the USMLE Step 1. Students must pass this course before they can take up Clinical Sciences.

2. Clinical Sciences: This component consists of core and elective rotations that equip students to apply their Basic Sciences knowledge to real-world situations. This component will be conducted at affiliated teaching hospitals throughout the United States, Canada, and India.

The programme is designed to train and guide students in developing expertise and a career in global health. The curriculum includes study of primary care, community and public health, epidemiology and treatment of communicable and non-communicable diseases on a global basis.

Upon acceptance by the graduate certificate program admission committee, qualified students can apply to participate in the advanced introduction to clinical medicine (FM1/IM1) at FIU and the AUA-FIU Graduate Clinical Core Rotation Certificate Program.
