    Department of Communication offers a one - year postgraduate diploma in journalism to students who aspire to become journalists in newspapers and magazines. The program imparts training to students interested in print journalism. This also provides students an opportunity to make a lateral entry into our M.A. (Communication) program in the second year, in the print specialization stream.

    The P. G. D. J. is a one-year postgraduate diploma in print and broadcast journalism. This also provides students an opportunity to make a lateral entry into our M.A. (Communication) program in the second year.

    Objectives

    Journalism is the program focus. In addition, the program has the following objectives -

    To familiarize students with the working of the print media.

    To develop working skills needed for newspapers.

    To develop an understanding of development and its relationship with media.

    To develop writing skills for different formats used in print media.

    To develop aptitude and competence to analyze and interpret the events.

    Course Description

    Students aspiring to obtain the PG Diploma should acquire 32 credits in total through the study of subjects indicated below.

    The P. G. D. J. is a one-year postgraduate diploma in print and broadcast journalism. This also provides students an opportunity to make a lateral entry into our M.A. (Communication) program in the second year.


    Eligibility Criteria

    A pass in bachelor's degree (10+2+3 system) in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities with an aggregate 50% marks. Candidate from the foreign universities should obtain an Equivalence Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.

    Admission Details

    ADMISSION PROCESS: All candidates are required to appear for the CAPTEST conducted by Amrita University. Selection is based on performance in Communication Aptitude Test - CAPTEST (Entrance Exam)* Group Discussion (GD) Personal Interview (PI) * Candidates with more than 70% aggregate marks during the first two years of their degree are exempted from appearing for the CAPTEST. However, they will have to appear for personal interview. ADMISSION PROCEDURE: Based on performance in the qualifying examination, personal interview, Group Discussion and industry experience.
