The Berhampur University came into existence in the year 1967, inaugurated by Dr A.N. Khosla, the then Governor of Orissa and the first chancellor of the university. The university offers both UG and PG courses in various programs for interested candidates. However, admissions to these courses may require an entrance test or merit of candidates. Berhampur University provides a well-equipped infrastructural facility for its students and staff to make their learning environment safe and more inspiring to learn and gain knowledge from. Clubs, Committees and Societies

The university has set up various committees in charge of certain positions that deals with the responsibility of keeping the university environment a safe and reliable one for student’s and staff. They are given below.

Anti-Ragging Committee: This committee holds the responsibility to eradicate ragging among students or staff in the university. The anti-ragging cell aims to maintain peaceful coexistence among students.

Cell Against Sexual Harassment: The committees of this cell help to prevent any kind of sexual harassment in the university and specially to safeguard women in the university from any kind of violent or sexual abuse.

SC and SC Cell: This cell was set up with the view to strengthen and help the SC and ST category students facing any kind of problem or issue, and the committee of the cell monitors the wellbeing of these students.

Employees Recreational Club: This club provides a recreation for faculty members, along with accommodations for the teachers if required. The club organizes various social and cultural events or functions.

Facilities

Berhampur University provides a well-equipped infrastructure to students and staff. Admission

The university offers admissions to various UG and PG courses through merit or entrance tests. For MBA, MCA, and ME/MTech admissions, OJEE entrance exam is required, admissions to all other PG courses including MSc, MSW, MA, M. Com, M. Pharma, MCA, are done through CPET, and admissions to all UG courses are done on the basis of candidate’s merit of previous course degree.

Scholarship

Students in Berhampur University receive various scholarship from agencies. However, most of the students apply for scholarships provided by the state and central government. Scholarships are provided based on the category students belong to and to high performers on the basis of merit cum means scholarship. Scholarships can also be availed on the basis of the course study pursued by students. Students can also apply for educational loans from reputed banks.

Placement

Placement is undertaken in the career and placement assistance cell in the university. The cell aims to provide career guidance through workshops, guest speakers, and prepare to build professional skills in students according to the career interest they have. The university has around 20 per cent placement success over the years. Many students apply for jobs outside campus, while others prepare for government jobs or pursue higher studies.
