BITS Pilani Admission Details: Eligibility, Dates, Application, Fees

BITS Pilani offers admissions to the undergraduate, postgraduate diploma and doctoral programmes. For Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani admission, candidates first have to meet the eligibility criteria. Once the eligibility criteria is met, candidates also have to appear for entrance tests, except P.G.D programmes. For example, for the B.Tech, B.Pharma and M.Sc. programme admission, candidates have to appear for BITSAT, Business Analytics Aptitude Test (BAAT) and CAT/XAT/GMAT (optional) for M.B.A. and BITS HD for M.E and M.Pharma programmes. For BITS Pilani admission to the M.E. and M.Pharma programmes, candidates may also appear for GATE (for M.E.) and GPAT (for M.Pharm) in spite of BITS HD. 

As per the BITS Pilani admission criteria, candidates are shortlisted on the basis of scores of the entrance test for further admission process. Those candidates meeting the cutoff are called for BITS counselling for the B.Tech, B.Pharma and M.Sc. programme admission. Performance in BAAT, personal interview, CAT/XAT/GMAT scores (if available), work experience and academic records are considered for the M.B.A programme admission at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. Similarly, merit scores of BITS HD are used to shortlist the candidates as per the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani admission procedure for the M.E and M.Pharma programme admission. For the Ph.D programme admission, candidates have to appear for a written test and interview.

BITS Pilani UG Admissions

The institute offers four-year duration full-time undergraduate programmes. B.Tech and B.Pharma are the UG programmes offered by Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. The following B.Tech programme specialisations are offered at the institute: chemical engineering, chemical engineering hons, civil engineering, civil engineering hons and many more. Online B.Tech programmes like engineering technology and process engineering are also offered by BITS Pilani.

• Seats are allotted to the candidates on the basis of merit scores of BITSAT, availability of seats and preferences filled.

• Direct admissions are offered to the first rank students of all the central and state boards.

BITS Pilani M.B.A Admission Process

• First, meet BITS Pilani eligibility criteria.

• Second, appear for Business Analytics Aptitude Test (BAAT) conducted by BITS Pilani.

• Third, candidates are shortlisted on the basis of performance in the entrance test.

• Fourth, shortlisted candidates have to appear for a personal interview.

• Fifth, final selection of the candidates is based on overall performance in BAAT, personal interview, CAT/XAT/GMAT scores (if available), prior work experience and previous academic history.

• Finally, for BITS Pilani admission, selected candidates have to submit the documents and pay the fees.

BITS Pilani M.Sc. Admission Process

• First candidates have to meet the eligibility criteria.

• Next, candidates have to appear for BITSAT.

• After the declaration of the result, a merit list and cutoff is released.

• Candidates meeting the cutoff have to appear for BITS counselling and give preference to Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani.

BITS Pilani M.E./M.Pharma Admission Process

• Candidates first have to meet the eligibility criteria.

• After that, candidates have to appear for BITS HD, conducted by BITS Pilani.

• Candidates with a valid GATE (for M.E.) and GPAT (for M.Pharma) scores are exempted from the entrance test.

• Candidates applying for M.E. Software Systems have to appear for BITS HD.

• After the declaration of the result, a separate merit list is released for the candidates applying through BITS HD and GATE/GPAT.

• Shortlisted candidates have to appear for BITS HD counselling and give preference to BITS Pilani.

• Seats are allotted to the candidates on the basis of merit scores of the entrance test, availability of seats and preferences filled.

• 50% of the seats are reserved for BITS HD candidates and remaining 50% of the seats are reserved for GATE/GPAT candidates.

• Selected candidates finally have to submit the documents and pay the fees.

Candidates applying to any of the three M.Pharm. programs will be admitted based on GPAT score only. GATE score will not be considered for admission to these programs. Candidates applying for programs other than the three M.Pharm programs will be admitted based on GATE score only. GPAT score will not be considered for admission to these programmes.

BITS Pilani Ph.D Admissions

The institute offers a six-year full-time Ph.D programme in the following areas: biological sciences, chemical engineering, chemistry, civil engineering, computer science and information systems, economics and finance, electrical and electronics engineering, etc.

• Candidates should first meet the eligibility criteria.

• After that, candidates have to fill the institute application form and give their preferences.

• Shortlisted candidates have to appear for a written test, divided into two sections.

• Candidates with M.Phil/M.E/M.Tech or with National level fellowships like CSIR NET-JRF, DBT-JRF, UGC NET-JRF etc are exempted from the written test.

• Further, candidates shortlisted on the basis of the written test have to appear for a personal interview.

• Candidates selected on the basis of written test and interview have to report to the respective campus and submit the documents and pay the fees.
