Established in the year 1989, Chennai Mathematical Institute is a deemed to be university  recognised by the University Grants Commission under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. It is also known as CMI Chennai. The university is accredited by NAAC with an ‘A’ grade. The varsity campus covers an area of 5 acres. There are a total of 36 faculty members at the university. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses. Some of the courses offered by CMI chennai are B.Sc. (Hons) Mathematics and Physics, M.Sc. Mathematics, Ph.D Data Science etc. 

The university conducts CMI Entrance Examination for admission to B.Sc. (Hons) and M.Sc. courses. For admission to Ph.D Mathematics and Ph.D Physics/Ph.D Data Science courses, candidates need to appear for NBHM and JEST respectively.

Chennai Mathematical Institute Courses

There are a total of 8 courses offered by the university at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. Chennai Mathematical Institute course list includes 2 UG, 3 PG and 3 doctoral courses. CMI Chennai UG courses are of 3 years duration. On the other hand, Chennai Mathematical Institute PG courses are of 2 years duration. The varsity offers all its programmes in full time mode. B.Sc. CMI Chennai Admission

The university admission to B.Sc. (Hons), M.Sc. and Ph.D courses. Chennai Mathematical Institute admission to B.Sc. (Hons) and M.Sc. courses is done based on candidates performance on the CMI entrance Examination conducted by the university. The university also conducts an entrance examination for Ph.D admission. Candidates who have a valid score in JEST/HBHM are exempted from the entrance exam conducted by the varsity for Ph.D courses. As per the CMI Chennai admission process, the final selection of candidates for admission to Ph.D courses is done on the basis of entrance score and performance in a personal interview.

• Fill the application form of the university. 

• Sit for the CMI Entrance Exam. 

• Then, candidates are shortlisted for admission. 

• If shortlisted, visit the campus.

• Fill Chennai Mathematical Institute application form. 

• Appear for the CMI Entrance Examination. 

• Candidates with a valid score in JEST/NBHM are not required to appear in the university’s entrance exam.

Chennai Mathematical Institute Scholarships

Students who are enrolled in B.Sc. (Hons) and M.Sc. programmes can avail scholarships offered by the university. CMI Chennai scholarships are provided to students based on their academic performance and annual income of the family. Apart from scholarships, the varsity offers fellowships with a monthly allowance of Rs. 6,000 to B.Sc. (Hons) and M.Sc. students. As per the Chennai Mathematical Institute scholarship policy, only a limited number of students are offered scholarships every year and students are provided with tuition fee waiver. In order to avail the scholarship, students must meet the eligibility criteria determined by the university. 

Chennai Mathematical Institute Placement

The university has a placement cell that is responsible for the placements of students. Every year companies such as Credit-Suisse, Adobe, Ernst & Young etc. participate in the CMI Chennai placement drive. The placement cell of the university aims at providing maximum placement opportunities to the students. Chennai Mathematical Institute placement cell trains students for the placement drive. Furthermore, companies also ogranies pre-placement talks for students. The placement cell of the varsity also provides internship opportunities to students. According to the placement report 2019-20, the median package offered to students was Rs. 14,00,000 per annum.
