Established in 1964, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya was formerly known as the University of Indore. The university is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a grade of ‘A+’. There are more than 220 colleges that are affiliated with DAVV Indore. The university is recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC). There are more than 30 University Teaching Departments (UTD’S) functioning in the university such as the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), School of Physics, School of Life Sciences, School of Instrumentation, School of Languages etc. 

The university vision and mission is derived from the university motto- “Dhiyo Yonah Prachodayat”. The university is located in Indore. There are more than 12,000 students currently enrolled in DAVV Indore with a faculty strength of 278. In total, 113 courses are offered to students at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya for admissions at four levels: diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level. The university conducts its own entrance examinations for admission to various courses. The Common Entrance Test (CET) is conducted at UG and PG levels and Doctoral Entrance Test (DET) is conducted for DAVV Indore M.Phil/Ph.D. admissions.

DAVV Indore Location

The university is located at Nalanda Campus, R. N. T., Rabindranath Tagore Marg, Chhoti Gwaltoli, Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Sarwate Bus Stand is 1.4 km away and The nearest railway station is Indore Junction at a distance of 1.2 km and it will take around 6 minutes to reach the DAVV Indore. Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport, Indore is the nearest airport at a distance of 8.6 km that will take 10-12 minutes for students to reach the university. Students can take a bus from Sarwate Bus Stand to reach the university.

DAVV Indore Infrastructure and Facilities

The university ensures that students don't feel any kind of inconvenience while they are on campus. Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya library uses RFID tagging for book safety, TLSS software for issue/deposit and OPAC facility. It has a vast collection of textbooks, periodicals, journals etc. The university has separate hostels for boys and girls working under the supervision of the Chief Warden that ensures the safety and security of students. DAVV Indore has a separate department namely The Directorate of Physical Education and Sports that provides a broad spectrum of sports, recreation, wellness and leisure activities for students, faculty and staff to participate. Furthermore, the university has the State Bank of India branches which provides all the facilities such as ATM, internet banking, deposits, educational loans etc.

DAVV Indore Courses

A total of 113 courses are offered at four levels: diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral. Some of the DAVV Indore courses are B.Com Accounting and Tax Management, B.A. Journalism, B.S.W., M.B.A, M.A., M.Sc., M.Phil etc. The university offers 30 doctoral courses. The duration of UG and PG courses is different and will depend on the course a student is applying to, for example, the duration of B.A. Journalism is 3 years, whereas, for M.B.A, it is 2 years.

DAVV Indore Courses and Eligibility Criteria

DAVV Indore Admissions

Students are offered DAVV Indore admissions at diploma, UG, PG and doctoral levels. Admissions at DAVV Indore are both entrance and merit-based. For some UG and PG courses admissions, there is an entrance test conducted by the university- CET, whereas for some undergraduate and postgraduate courses merit of the qualifying examination will be considered for DAV Indore admissions. An important point to note is that there will be an entrance test for M.Phil and Ph.D. admissions- Doctoral Entrance Test (DET).

DAVV Indore Admissions Through CET

• Candidates must fulfil the eligibility criteria before applying for admission.

• Fill an online application form on the official website.

• Admission will be based on the Common Admission Procedure (CAP).

• Candidates must appear for DAVV CET.

• Appear for the counselling session.

• Admissions will be offered to candidates based on the performance in DAVV CET, seat allotment, verification of documents and payments of the fees.

DAVV Indore Admission Process for Non-CET Programmes

• Meet the course requirements.

• Apply online by visiting the official website of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya.

• DAVV Indore admissions will be offered based on the merit of the qualifying examination.

• Admissions will be offered based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination, document verification and payment of the fees.

DAVV Indore Admission Process for M.E/M.Tech

• Meeting the eligibility criteria is a mandatory requirement.

• Fill the online application form and upload the documents.

• Preference will be given to GPAT/GATE qualified candidates. 

• For NON- GATE/GPAT, admission shall be made on the basis of a merit list developed for each programme considering average marks/CGPAadmissions.

• Admission shall be made by online counselling. 

• The last step is document verification and payment of the fees.

DAVV Indore Doctoral Admission Process

• Meet the eligibility criteria.

• Fill the registration form.

• Appear for Doctoral Entrance Test (DET) 

• Shortlisted students will be notified for an interview.

• Research Advisory Committee is responsible for conducting the interview.

• Admissions will be made based on the candidates’ performance in DET, interview, document verification and payment of the fees

DAVV Indore Scholarships

The students studying and who are willing to take admission at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya can apply for various university level, national and state-level scholarships. In order to avail DAVV Indore scholarships, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria. For GATE/GPAT qualified candidates, there are 13 stipend seats available offering Rs. 12,400 per month approved by AICTE under Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme. This stipend programme is only available for candidates willing to take admission in M.E/M.Tech except for M.Tech. Programme in Energy and Environment. Students can also apply for other national-level scholarships such as Ishan Uday - Special Scholarship Scheme For North Eastern Region, PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship For Single Girl Child, DRDO Scholarship Scheme Exclusively for Girls etc.

DAVV Indore Placements

The university has a well-established training and placement cell that is responsible for DAVV Indore placements. The cell helps the students to face the reality and marketplace by preparing them for the final recruitment rounds. The cell conducts various placement activities such as workshops, guest lectures, seminars, mock tests and interview to smoothen the campus recruitments. The average salary package offered to students in 2018-19 at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya after completion of UG and PG (1-year courses) was Rs. 4,21,000 and Rs. 3,60,000 respectively.
