The department specializes in providing advanced diagnostic facilities of autorefractometer, computerized automated perimetry, fundus fluorescein angiography and specular microscopy. The department also runs a contact lens clinic, a paediatric ophthalmic clinic and has facilities for oculoplasty (Ptosis, Ocular Prosthesis/Implants and Lid Deformities). Lasers for anterior and posterior segment are available. The department provides specialized services for Vitreoretinal diseases (Ffa, Fundus Camera, Frequency Double Nd:yag Laser, Alcon Vitrectomy Unit)

Admission Process
" Every year in the month of January, the University conducts the all India level Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination (PGMEE). A merit list is prepared based on this examination. The candidates are called for counseling in the month of February/March. The session starts from May.
The information brochure is made available by the University sometime in the month of November/December of the year previous to the admission year. The information regarding the availability of the brochure is widely publicized through national newspapers."
Eligibility Criteria
" (i) A candidate, who holds an MBBS degree from a recognized medical college or a foreign medical degree included in the schedules of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 and who has obtained full registration either from the Medical Council of India (MCI) or from any of the State Medical Councils after completing compulsory rotating internship, shall be eligible to take this examination.
(ii) A candidate, who after passing the final qualifying examination (MBBS or the foreign medical degree recognized by MCI), is undergoing a 12 month compulsory rotating internship and is likely to complete the same by 31st March of the admission year, can also take up this examination. The candidate must produce a certificate from the head of the institution that he/she will be completing internship by 31st March of the admission year. But he/she will not be eligible for admission unless he/she has completed the compulsory rotating internship and obtained full registration on or before 31st March of the admission year.
(iii) The cut-off dates for the recognition of Medical Colleges for the year of admission will be 31st October of the previous year. The colleges recognized after this date will not be considered."
