Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla was established in 2016, by Himachal Pradesh Act of 2016. The University started its own entrance examination HPNLET for admission in B.A.LL.B.; B.B.A. LL.B.; and LL.M. and Ph.D.Programmes but in 2019-2020, HPNLU decided to join the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) consortium. The university is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). At present, the university offers undergraduate programmes (B.A.LL.B., B.B.A.LL.B.), postgraduate programmes (LL.M.) and doctoral programmes (Ph.D.) to the students.

The placement cell of Himachal Pradesh National Law University tries to invite reputed companies to the campus for the recruitment so that students can get good exposure and a good salary. Placement cell is a very important part of HPNLU. The cell also calls experts for guest lectures on campus. The placement process of HPNLU is given below.
The placement cell of Himachal Pradesh National Law University has good relationships with the organisations.
The cell uses its contacts and invites the companies for the placement process on campus.
If the company agrees to come, the company will share its important information with the placement cell.
The placement cell will share the information with the students.
If the student is interested in the company, he/she can register the name to the cell.
After registration, students have to share the resumes with the placement cell.
The placement cell will send the resumes to the company and then by looking at the resumes, the company can make a list of students who are selected for the interview/test.

Himachal Pradesh National Law University is providing infrastructural facilities like hostels, library, cafeteria to the students. These facilities are provided to them for their comfort and ease. The administration of the university makes sure that no student is facing any problem on HPNLU campus and if any student faces any problem, the administration tries to solve the problem as early as possible.
Hostel: Himachal Pradesh National Law University has separate hostels for boys and girls. HPNLU also provides AC and non AC rooms to the students. Hostels have facilities like light, WiFi, water cooler, newspapers/magazines, common rooms, CCTV cameras etc. Nobody is allowed to go out of the campus without the warden’s permission.
Library: There is a library on HPNLU campus. In the library, students can find various kinds of books, journals, research etc. Students can also visit the library if he/she is feeling a little stressed as the library has a peaceful environment which can relax your mind.
Cafeteria: In Himachal Pradesh National Law University, there is a cafeteria that has shops. Students can buy the food items and chill with their friends in the cafeteria. Many students come to the cafeteria after their classes are over.
As himachal pradesh national law university is in its initial phase so the infrastructure is not so good but the library is in its best condition and internet is provided to both college and hostels and there are also the smart classrooms. The food is also hygienic.
As the university has been established in the year 2016, therefore the first batch passed out in 2021. So, there is no specific information about placements, salary packages, companies which offer placements, etc. However, students get internships in law firms and also under high court and district court judges.
