IEC University, Baddi: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

The university was established in 2012 by the Himachal Pradesh state legislature act. The university campus is spread over an area of 14.5 acres of land. IEC University is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university is approved by the All India for Technical Education (AICTE). IEC University is also approved by the  Bar Council of India, Council of Architecture, Indian Association of Physiotherapists and Pharmacy Council of India. The university is a member of the Association of the Indian Universities (AIU). The mission and vision of the university is to inculcate moral values through innovative and research driven education.

The courses are offered in the fields of engineering, management, commerce, arts, science, computer science, etc. IES University offers B.E/B.Tech, B.A., B.B.A, B.C.A., B.Com, B.Sc., B.Sc. (H), M.E/M.Tech, M.Sc., M.A., M.B.A and M.C.A. as popular courses. Admission to these courses is done on the basis of merit. After merit-based selection, candidates have to appear for counselling. The total number of faculty members in the university is 69. The total number of students enrolled is 1059. The student-teacher ratio in the university is 15:1.

IEC University has many faciliites like library, hostel, laboratories, medical clinic, IT infrastructure, moot court, wifi, cafeteria, transport, sports, gym, well-furnished classrooms, etc.

IEC University is located at Atal Shiksha Nagar, Kallujhanda, Near-Village Nanak Pura, Pinjore-Nalagarh Highway, Himachal Pradesh. There are various modes of transport to reach  the university. One can travel by air, road or rail to reach IEC University. The  nearest railway station to the university is Kalka Railway station. It is 10.4 km from the university. Baddi Bus Stand is the nearest bus stand to the university. It is located at a distance of 10.8 km. Chandigarh International Airport is the nearest airport to IEC University. The distance between the university and the airport is 40.4 km.

IEC University Clubs, Committees and Societies

• NSS- National Service Scheme helps students to develop the spirit of community service. For this purpose, NSS organises various awareness programmes and camps.

• Sports Club- The club encourages its members to participate in various intra and inter university level competitions. The club also organises programmes and activities.

IEC University Facilities

There are ample facilities for the students and staff members of the university. The university provides facilities like hostel, library, IT infrastructure, laboratories, transport, well-furnished classrooms, sports, gym, cafeteria, medical clinic, moot court, wi-fi, etc. There are separate hostel facilities for both boys and girls. The hostel rooms are very comfortable and are equipped with all the essential facilities. There are also recreational facilities like television and indoor games in the hostels. The safety and security of the hostel are taken care of by the hostel wardens. IEC University facilities include smart classrooms. The university classrooms are equipped with CAD, CAM, LCD projector, etc. 

The  university library has a vast collection of textbooks and reference books. National, international journals, periodicals, magazines, e-books are other resources available in the university library. The library is very spacious and beautifully furnished. The library also has printing, scanning and photocopying facilities. There are over a hundred computers in the computer lab of the university. Latest softwares like Windows XP Pro, Windows 2003, LINUX, etc have been installed in the computers. The computers are connected with 150 Mbps leased line internet. Each department of the university has its laboratory and research centre. The laboratories facilitate practical knowledge among the students.

Students of law can practice in the university moot court. There is also a legal aid clinic in the university, which provides free guidance to the students. The university transport facility comprises a fleet of buses, which provides hassle free travelling services  on a chargeable basis to the students and faculty members. IEC University facilities provide various outdoor and indoor games facilities. Some of them are basketball, handball, volleyball, cricket, badminton, tennis, chess, carrom, etc. The university provides trainers for guidance of the students in the gym. The gym has multi-stationed equipment for workout. IEC University cafeteria provides hygienically prepared food.

IEC University Admission

Various programmes are offered by the university in different specialisations. The university offers programmes at diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, postgraduate diploma, M.Phil and Ph.D levels. Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria can apply for IEC University admission. The  university selects candidates on the basis of merit score of JEE Main/HPCET for B.Tech programme, merit score of qualifying exam for  B.A., B.B.A, B.C.A., B.Com, B.Sc., B.Sc. (H),  M.Sc., M.A. programme and merit score of qualifying exam and entrance test for M.B.A programme. Shortlisted candidates have to appear for counselling. After that, candidates have to submit the documents and pay the fees to confirm their admission in IEC University.

IEC University Scholarships

Students who want to avail scholarships at IEC University can apply for central government, AICTE/UGC scholarship or scholarship offered by the state government. The central and state government provides scholarships to meritorious and deserving candidates. The various scholarships students can avail are Pragati Scholarship Scheme for Girl Students(Technical Degree), Saksham Scholarship Scheme for Specially Abled Student, Kalpana Chawla Chatravriti Yojana Himachal Pradesh and PG Scholarship Scheme for SC/ST Students for Pursuing Professional Courses. Students after meeting the eligibility criteria, are eligible for the scholarship amount.

1. Pragati Scholarship Scheme for Girl Students(Technical Degree)- This scholarship is awarded to the girl student who is pursuing the first year of the degree programme and whose annual  family income is up to Rs 8 lakhs. Rs 50,000 per annum is awarded under this scheme.

2. Saksham Scholarship Scheme for Specially Abled Student- Those candidates who are pursuing the first year of the degree programme, whose annual family income is up to Rs 8 lakhs and disability is not less than 40% are eligible to get this scholarship. Under this scheme, Rs 50,000 per annum is awarded.

3. Kalpana Chawla Chatravriti Yojana Himachal Pradesh- This scholarship is provided by the Government of Himachal Pradesh Department of Higher Education. This scholarship is awarded to those girl students who are pursuing a regular academic, professional or technical course from government-aided or any private institution. The scholarship is disbursed as per the merit list provided by H.P board of school education after 10+2 examination. Under this scheme, Rs 15,000 per year is awarded.

4. PG Scholarship Scheme for SC/ST Students for Pursuing Professional Courses- This scholarship is provided to SC/ST students pursuing a full-time course from a UGC recognised university. Under this scheme, Rs 7,800 per month (M.E/M.Tech) and Rs 4,500 per month for other courses is awarded.

IEC University Placement

There is a placement cell in the university. The placement cell assists in the placement and internship. The placement cell conducts various pre-placement training for the students. Some of them are  workshops, industrial visits, career planning and counselling, PDP, seminars, aptitude assessment, psychometric assessment, guest lectures and mock interviews. The placement cell also conducts summer training programmes. The university has strong linkage with many industries.
