The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Amritsar provides admission to the M.B.A, Executive M.B.A, Ph.D and Post Doctoral Fellowship in Management. IIM Amritsar admissions to the postgraduate courses are offered based on the students' performance in CAT/GMAT/GRE/GATE/IAAT while valid scores in CAT/GATE/GMAT/GRE/JRF (UGC/CSIR) are required for IIM Amritsar Ph.D admission. Mode of Selection
Based on the marks scored in CAT/GMAT/GRE/GATE/IAAT.

The institute offers 4 courses at the postgraduate level. M.B.A in 3 specialisations and Executive M.B.A are the courses offered by the Indian Institute of Management Amritsar. Master of Business Administration programme includes specialisations such as Business Analytics and Human Resources. The duration of the PG courses is 2 years.
50% marks in a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university.
Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised institute/university.
Minimum 3 years of work experience in managerial/professional/entrepreneurial roles.
Students have to appear and qualify the CAT.
IIM Amritsar cutoff will be released by the institute.
Students who meet the cutoff can apply for the IIM Amritsar admissions.
Shortlisted candidates have to appear for a Personal Interview (PI).

Candidates who have not appeared in any of the above examinations need to appear for IIM Amritsar Admission Test (IAAT).
Further, the aspirants have to appear for a Personal Interview.

Only 2 courses are offered at the doctoral level. Ph.D and Post Doctoral Fellowship in Management are the 2 doctoral courses. The duration of Ph.D course is 6 years and the duration of the Post Doctoral Fellowship in Management course is 2 years.

4 Years B.Tech degree with 6.5 CGPA or equivalent. (or)
Professional qualification such as ICWA/ CFA- Level-II (USA)/CA/CS with a graduate degree having a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.
Ph.D degree from Central Universities, IIMs, IITs, IISERs, IISc Bangalore, NITIE Mumbai or an equivalent level.
The maximum age limit for candidates is 35 years.
Candidates with a valid score in CAT/GATE/GMAT/GRE/JRF (UGC/CSIR) can apply for admissions.

The duration of the Post Doctoral Fellowship In Management course is 2 years.

Keeping in mind, both K J Somaiya Institute of Management, and IIM Amritsar both are really good colleges, in my opinion, IIM Amritsar would be the better option.
Though K J Somaiya's Highest package(26.5 LPA) is more than IIM Amritsar's(25.21 LPA). IIM Amritsar's average placement(14.63 LPA) is better than the other(10.59 LPA).
Also one of the most important quality you get in an IIM is it's brand. There is no doubt that IIM Amritsar has a brand much stronger than the other.
