IIM Calcutta Admission Criteria 2023-2025: Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta has released the list of shortlisted candidates for a Personal Interview (PI) in online mode. Earlier, IIM Calcutta has released the admission criteria for the MBA programme (Batch 2023-25) on its official website - iimcal.ac.in. Also, IIMC has released the minimum cutoff eligibility criteria. IIM Calcutta will conduct the MBA admission process on the basis of the candidate’s score in the CAT entrance exam 2022.

CAT 2023 will held on November 26, 2023, and the result for the same will be announced. Students obtaining a valid score in CAT 2023 and meeting the minimum cutoff criteria will be shortlisted for the IIM Calcutta selection process. Further, students will be offered final admission to IIM Calcutta based on their cumulative score in various components which are described in this article below. Students must fulfill the eligibility criteria before filling the application form for IIM Calcutta. Check the complete eligibility criteria below:
Students must have a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 50% in aggregate or equivalent CGPA (45% for SC/ ST candidates). Candidates belonging to Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe, and Person with Disability categories will be given 5% relaxation.
Candidate must have completed the graduation from any university/institute incorporated by an Act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
The percentage of marks obtained by the applicant will be calculated on the basis of the practice followed by the institute/university from where the student has graduated. In case the university/institute does not provide the conversion policy then the equivalence will be achieved by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result with 100.
Candidates appearing for the final year examination of the qualifying exam are also eligible to apply for CAT 2023 and IIM Calcutta admission process. However such candidates will be required to submit the required documents, from the principal/registrar of his/her university/College/Institute stating that the candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate.
Also, candidates must produce the certificates of mark sheets or the other requirements not later than December 31, 2024, failing to which the candidature will stand canceled.
Candidates will be shortlisted for Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) on the basis of their CAT 2023 score, past academic performance, gender diversity, and other criteria which are listed below:
Stage 1- Minimum CAT percentile cut-offs to be considered for PI
In stage 1, the student will be required to score the minimums sectional as well as the overall percentile in CAT 2023 to get shortlisted. Check the table below:

Candidates who will score above the minimum CAT 2022 percentile mentioned in the respective category will be considered for the calculation of the composite score which is mentioned in stage 2.
Stage 2- Shortlisting for PI
Candidates satisfying the criteria of Stage-I will be called for Personal Interview (PI) based on the composite score derived using the components and the corresponding weights as specified in Table 2.

After deriving the composite score, the cutoffs will be decided in each category for shortlisting candidates for Stage II of the selection process of IIM Calcutta. The number of candidates to be short-listed in Personal Interview (PI) in each category totally depends upon the batch size.

To calculate the marks (in%) obtained in Classes 10 and 12, the Board will consider whether to consider the percentage of the total marks of all the subjects appearing in the mark sheet/ grade paper.

Computation of percentages in Class 10 and 12
For computing the marks of class 10 and class 12, the average of all subjects is taken into consideration irrespective of if the respective board considers it for calculation or not.

Computation of Percentages at Bachelor’s level
The aggregate of the marks obtained by the candidate in the graduation degree will be computed as per the norm followed by the respective institute from which the candidate has graduated. In case the institute/university does not provide any method of calculation of CGPA then the equivalence will be obtained by dividing the marks obtained by the candidate by the maximum CGPA and multiplying the result by 100.
If a bachelor’s degree is not completed
In case a candidate has to appear for the final examination, he/she can fill the CAT application form, and the aggregate marks obtained in the previous semesters will be taken into consideration and points will be allotted as mentioned in the table above.
Dual degree
The percentage of marks to be considered will be as specified in the degree certificate.

Work Experience*
While computing the score for work experience a maximum of 8 points will be given to the candidates based on their experience as of January 31, 2023. Students must note that only managerial work after graduation will be taken into consideration and not any internships, training/projects, work done as an integral part of the subject will be considered.

Final Selection for MBA Programme
The final selection list will be based on merit in each category; Based on the criteria, the candidate will not automatically be eligible to get admission to IIM Calcutta.

For getting admission in IIM-C, you first need to apply for CAT 2019 and then score well in CAT. If you qualify the CAT percentile of that college, than you will be shortlisted for a further exam of WAT and and personal interview. And post that your piror acedmic score will he evaluated on some basis that is of class 10, 12 and graduation.
