About IIT Madras

IIT Madras is an institute of National Importance that was established in the year 1959. IIT Madras is an autonomous statutory institute administered by the IIT Council. Indian Institute of Technology, Madras has ranked 1st in NIRF 2023 Overall Ranking. The institute offers a total of 106 courses, out of which 104 courses are degree courses while 4 courses are offered at the diploma level. Students seeking admission in any of these courses must meet the eligibility criteria and eligible students can apply for admissions by filling the online application form. Students taking B.Tech courses are shortlisted on the basis of marks secured in JEE Advanced while students seeking admission at the MBA programme must appear for CAT. In order to secure admission in an M.Tech course, students must have a valid GATE score. The institute has a pretty active placement cell and that works towards recruitment of maximum students. IIT Madras Scholarship

IIT Madras scholarships are made available to students who fulfil the eligibility criteria for the particular scholarships. These scholarships and fellowships are provided either for students with exemplary academic record as a means to appreciate their hard work or to students who belong to the economically weaker sections of the society so as to motivate them for higher education. Our college has good infrastructure but most of it is somewhat broken because of lots of fight and, otherwise classes are good and clean canteen food is also good.The campus surroundings are clean and they maintain properly.

College Infrastructure

As it is an IIT you can expect very huge infrastructure. Also campus is really big with hostel and alot of space , plus greenery is everywhere. Library is my most favorite having lots of books, group discussion room in library. So overall there is nothing less here for students.

Hello,

IIT Madras CAT eligibility criteria :-

A Graduate degree with a General category score of 60%.
A graduate degree with a 55 percent average for those who are SC, ST, or PWD.

CAT cutoff percentile for IIT Madras will be around 85.11 from previous data.

Selection Process in IIT Madras -

Step 1: Candidates will be first shortlisted based on their CAT 2022 test scores.

Step 2: Interview appointments will be made with the shortlisted individuals.

after bsc microbiology can i get msc microbiology in IIT madras

Hello,

Since IIT only provides the MSc in biotechnology, there is no possibility of continuing with the Msc in Microbiology using the JAM rank.

Since 2004, the Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM) has been held to provide admission to the M.Sc. (Four Semesters), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree, etc. Programmes at the IITs, and Integrated Ph.D. Degree Programmes at the IISc. The postgraduate programmes offered by the IITs and IISc provide top-notch instruction in their respective fields, on par with the best in the world. These programmes' curriculum are created to give students the chance to hone their academic skills in order to pursue challenging and fulfilling careers.

TIP : Apply for MSc Biotechnology as there are no seats available at IITs for microbiology and more seats available for Biotechnology.
