IIT Mandi B. Tech. admissions are based on the rank that students attain in the JEE Advanced examination, which is held once every year. The cut-off ranks are released by JoSAA, in the form of opening and closing ranks. The stages are explained below:
The candidates must register for JEE Main and JEE Advanced examinations.
The candidates must appear for JEE Main and should be able to make the cut-off. Once they have achieved the required cut-off, they become eligible to appear for JEE Advanced examination.
The candidates must score well in the JEE Advanced examination. JoSAA releases the cut-off based on college ranking.
Shortlisted candidates must appear for a counselling session to obtain the specialisation.
Post selection, the candidates must pay the fee to confirm the seat at IIT Mandi.
IIT Mandi offers M. Tech. in Mechanical engineering, energy engineering, Power Electronics and Drives, Communications and Signals Processing, Biotechnology, Structural Engineering, and VLSI.

GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is conducted by IISc with 7 IITs on behalf of the National Coordination Board and other government education councils and committees. IIT MANDI is a Government Institute of National Importance. It is UGC approved institute and comes under the category of new IIT's.
The institute don't offers the course of BTech in Software Engineering, but if you wish to be a software engineer after studying from IIT MANDI, then you need to do the course of B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering . Most of the software engineers in India are from the CSE branch and this is the course which is studied for being a software engineer.
The admission to the course of BTech CSE is provided on the basis of JEE Advanced .

according to this years cutoffs of iit mandi data science obc is around 1703 obc rank so you should move accordingly but at this point you should be careful that you should consider past years cutoffs for reference purposes only as the same cutoff trends may not repeat in future
