Institute of Advanced Research offers admissions to undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level programmes. Accordingly, seats will be allotted. For IAR Gandhinagar admission to the M.Tech programme, candidates have to appear for GATE. A merit list will be prepared based on GATE scores or CET scores (conducted by the university), in case of insufficient GATE qualified candidates. Candidates whose names on the merit list have to appear for counselling and select Institute of Advanced Research. After that, seats will be allotted. For Ph.D programme, the university conducts PET. Candidates have to qualify the entrance test with minimum 50% marks. However, NET and GATE qualified candidates are exempted from the entrance test and can directly appear for the interview. A merit list is prepared for the candidates to appear for the interview. Candidates have to submit the documents and pay the fees to confirm their seats as the last step of the Institute of Advanced Research admission process.
