The university gives admission to diploma, PG and P.G.D courses. Karnataka University Dharwad admission to all PG courses other than M.C.A. is done based on candidates' scores in an entrance examination conducted by the varsity. Candidates' marks in the last qualifying examination are also considered for admission to PG courses. The varsity also conducts an entrance exam for admission to P.G.D.C.A. courses. As per the KUD Dharwad admission process, candidates need to appear for PG-CET conducted by the CPAC, VTU Campus, Belgaum for admission to the Master of Computer Applications (M.C.A.) course. The number of affiliated colleges has grown from just 34 to more than 250 during the past 70 years. The university has 3 PG campuses at Haveri (42 acres). Gadag (32 acres) and Karwar (6 acres).
