The Karnataka University Act 1949, passed by the Bombay assembly of the former Bombay Presidency, founded Karnataka University Dharwad. The institution is acknowledged as a "University with Potential for Excellence" by the University Grants Commission (UGC), which has authorised it. KUD Dharwad is another name for the university. It has been given an 'A' grade of accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). 888 acres make up the Karnataka University Dharwad campus. The varsity has 161 academic staff members. More than 250 colleges are currently affiliated with Karnataka University Dharwad. It provides postgraduate, diploma, and diploma programmes.
A variety of KUD Dharwad courses, including M.A., M.Sc., L.L.M., M.C.A., P.G.D.C.A., and Diploma in Russian are offered with specialisations. For admission to its PG programmes other than M.C.A., the university holds an entrance exam. For KUD Dharwad admission to the M.C.A. programme, accepts students' scores from the PG-CET administered by the CPAC, VTU Campus, Belgaum. The college infrastructure is good and have the necessary facilities like hostel , classrooms and well maintained labs , sports grounds are there . Living spaces are clean and the quality of food is good.
