Kuvempu University was established in 1987 and it is named after the great Kannada writer Shri Kuvempu. The University is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) and 12(b). Kuvempu University is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The university is spread over 230 acres of land. There are 99 colleges affiliated to Kuvempu University, out of which there are 3 constituent colleges, 30 Government aided colleges, 65 unaided private colleges, and one college under the direct control of the University. The university is located at Jnana Sahyadri, Shankaragatta in Karnataka. The university has secured 81st rank in the University category in NIRF 2021 Ranking.

Kuvempu University facilities are provided so that students can get all the basic requirements that are necessary for the learning process. The library plays an important role in fulfilling the research and information needs of the students as well as the faculty. With more than 1,20,960 books, 224 periodicals, 6,165 back volumes of periodicals, and 3,633 theses, students are able to get academic help easily. The university encourages students to actively participate in sports activities. The main objective of providing sports facilities is that students physical and mental health should be in a good state. 

Kuvempu University has a well-maintained cafeteria that can accommodate 50 students. The canteen provides delicious food items at reasonable prices. To avoid any problems related to accommodation, Kuvempu University offers hostel facilities to its students. There are two hostels for postgraduate students. Also, there working women’s hostel exclusively for students and research scholars to meet their accommodation needs. In case of a medical emergency, the university provides students with medical facilities. The university has a medical centre with physicians assisted with necessary staffs. An ambulance facility is also provided to students.

Kuvempu University is well equipped with Lan and Wifi facilities. All the cultural events, seminar halls, workshops, competitions, lectures etc are hosted in the university auditorium. Each department of Kuvempu University has seminar halls with a capacity of accommodating 100 students. The university also has a browsing centre, located at the university library. The centre consists of 40 computers with internet access. The university also has a State Bank of India branch on the campus.

Kuvempu University Admission

Kuvempu University offers 79 courses for admission to undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. For Kuvempu University admission, students must fulfil the eligibility criteria according to the course applied for. For postgraduate and PhD programmes such as MPed, MA (Journalism and Mass Communication), MA, PhD Applied Zoology, PhD Biochemistry, PhD Economics, and many more, eligible candidates have to appear for an entrance examination conducted by the university. Whereas, for MBA and MCA courses, students need to appear for PG CET conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KCET). In case of vacant seats, the university will conduct a separate entrance test for MBA and MCA. The minimum eligibility criteria for Kuvemu University PG admission is that candidates must hold a bachelor degree with a minimum of qualifying marks from a recognized university.

• Candidates desirous of admission to MBA and MCA courses at Kuvempu University must meet the following criteria.

• After fulfilling the admission criteria, aspirants must apply, appear and obtain valid scores in KCET.

• Candidates with valid scores can apply to the programme through the college official website.

• A merit list will be released by the university, and shortlisted candidates will be called for counselling which is the last stage of the Kuvempu University admissions process.

• The final selection will be based on the merit list, document verification, and payment of the fees.

Kuvempu University Admission Process for all Courses 

• Aspirants seeking admission to Kuvempu University must meet the eligibility criteria and then apply to the specific programme through the college website.

• Eligible candidates need to appear for an entrance examination conducted by the university. 

• A merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance examination and the same will be displayed on the notice board of the respective departments.

• Admission Committee will then call shortlisted candidates for document verification as a part of Kuvempu University admission procedure.

Kuvempu University offers scholarships to the students belonging to the weaker sections of the society. The main objective of organises training session is to make students well prepared for the placement drives. Kuvempu University organises various placement activities such as training programmes, workshops, mock interviews and interviews to assess the students’ capabilities and shortcomings and prepare them accordingly.
