Madurai Kamaraj University Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The university has many hostels named Bharathi, Kavimani, Bahrathidasan, Thiruvalluvar and V.O.C. All the hostels function under a hostel committee comprising one director and hostel wardens. The hostels offer accommodation for postgraduate, M.Phil and Ph.D students. All hostels, except V.O.C hostel, have an integrated mess system. The hostel rooms are well-furnished with fridges. R.O system, furniture and many more. Recreational facilities like television are also available. The hostels also have a reading room, except the V.O.C hostel.

MKU girls hostels are located on campus. The girls’ hostel blocks are named as Thamarai, Kurinji and Malligai. Hostel wardens comprise faculty members, who monitor the day-to-day administration of the hostel.  Hostel rooms are equipped with basic amenities and provide comfortable accommodation to outstation students.

The university medical clinic provides 24X7 medical facilities to the students, staff members, their families and general public of neighboring areas on nominal charge. Madurai Kamaraj University medical clinic facilities also include 24X7 on service ambulance, lab, ECG and X-Ray facility, labor theatre, nebulizer, etc. Specialised treatments are provided to the patients in collaboration with Apollo Speciality Hospitals.

Madurai Kamaraj University library facility is fully air-conditioned and has a vast collection of textbooks, reference books and other resources. The library is installed with CCTV cameras for security purposes. All students and faculty members can access the library facility during their free time after their classroom lectures.

Both indoor and outdoor sports facilities are available on the university campus. Separate fields are maintained for outdoor games.

The IT infrastructure of Madurai Kamaraj University is well-connected with the internet. The computers in the departments and computer lab are connected with LAN.

Madurai Kamaraj University cafeteria facility is very spacious and is available for both students and faculty members. The cafeteria provides hygienically prepared delicious food and the prices are very reasonable. The university cafeteria serves all-time meals, open on all working days. The menu includes both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.

The university has a preview theatre, two big auditoriums and a Dr.Mu.Va. hall. Madurai Kamaraj University auditorium facility is used for organising national, international and university events like seminars, workshops, conferences, meetings, cultural events, placement programmes, etc. The auditoriums are equipped with the latest technologies, modern projection and audio systems, LCD projector, slide projector, overhead projector, educational cassettes. The auditoriums are well-furnished and well-ventilated, are fully air-conditioned and well connected with the internet.

The university provides guest room facilities to the student’s family members and visiting faculties. The guest room is enabled with all basic facilities to provide a comfortable environment to the visitors.

MKU transport facility has a fleet of buses that commute in the city and city suburbs. The university transport facility provides a hassle-free and safe journey to the students and faculty members. The buses reach and leave the campus on time.
