24 MonthsA film has the power to transports its audience to parallel worlds. It mirrors the society from where it originates and helps connect people to their past and present. The essential elements of a film – the moving images, the music, the performance, the screenplay, the script coupled with VFX and smooth editing – held together by a compelling story makes it the most universally loved medium of art and mass communication.
MA in Film Arts (MAFA) program offered at the School of Communication, MAHE is a dual-degree master’s program in Film Making. This program is jointly offered by the School of Communication, MAHE, and EICAR – the International Film and Television School, Paris (EICAR). The course is speared over two years wherein enrolled students will spend the first year at SoC and continue the second year at EICAR. On completion of the program, successful students will be awarded the degree of Master of Arts in Film Art by Manipal Academy of Higher Education and Master of Fine Arts in Filmmaking accredited by the European Accreditation Board of Higher Education Schools (EABHES).
It is aimed at individuals who possess a deep interest in films and are keen on learning the finer nuances of the profession. As a specialized course, this program will train students in the complete film making process including screen writing, cinematography, directing, editing as well as help them develop an understanding of the social, cultural, economic perspectives of the medium.
