The university provides admission to Bachelor of Design (B.Des), Master of Design (M.Des) and Ph.D programmes. Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria of the desired programme to apply for National Institute of Design Ahmedabad admission. Candidates who want to take admission to B.Des and M.Des courses need to appear for NID DAT and obtain a valid score. As per the NID Ahmedabad admission process, admission to the Ph.D course is done based on the Design Research Test (DST) and a personal interview conducted by the university. The application form of the varsity can be filled by visiting the NID Ahmedabad admissions portal.
At the undergraduate level, a total of 8 courses are offered by the National Institute of Design Ahmedabad. The duration of all the undergraduate courses is 4 years. Candidates must have passed 12th class from a recognised board to apply for admission to undergraduate courses.

The university offers two Ph.D programmes - Ph.D Design and Ph.D Design part time. The duration of both the courses is 6 years. Candidates are selected based on the Design Research Test and performance in a personal interview.
