The Campus is 23 acres, spread out yet well-knit and very green. There are many trees with loads of birds. The library is arguably the best among all law schools in the country. There are gym facilities and health centers and mental health support groups. There is an indoor table tennis facility, basketball court, football stadium, and yoga center. Students are also allowed to use the Sports Authority of India facilities. There are plans for large-scale infrastructure expansion.
NLS is famous for its academic rigour. You will find some of the best professors of law teaching in this university. There is an emphasis on the inter-disciplinary aspect of the course and hence the BA part of the BA LLB course is taken rather seriously. However, academics can get quite competitive and there is immense pressure to score well and have a good GPA.
Placements in NLS have always been 100%. Most students get pre-placement offers after their internships. Most people get placed in Day Zero itself while others on Day One. All the best law firms come for placements. However, some students opt out of this process to go for litigation or for higher studies.
Unlike other government institutions, NLS is a little expensive. At the moment the fee is ₹275000 with a 5% increment every year. This is mainly because governments in India do not give enough grants to law schools and mostly seem to be concerned with engineering or medical colleges. But, yes, you'll get your money's worth considering the faculty base and curriculum.
NLS is rigourous. So, must students engage in activities that are related to academics. You will find people preparing for moot court competitions, ADR competitions, Debates, and likes. There are a number of student-run committees that take care of most extra/co-curricular activities. Teachers are helpful but the admin can be a little incompetent when dealing with certain issues.
NLS is great but demanding. There is always pressure to excel in everything. Competition is cut-throat. All these can take a toll on anyone's mental health.
