NLU Delhi Admission Process

National Law University (NLU), New Delhi offers admission to undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes. NLU Delhi admissions are offered to B.A. L.L.B Hons, Bridge Course in Law One Year, L.L.M and Ph.D Law. NLU Delhi admission is based on candidates' scores in the AILET entrance examination, followed by counselling. For NLU Delhi admission to Ph.D Law programme, candidates are selected based on a written test or AILET, followed by the evaluation of research proposals and an interview / viva-voce. Final admission is confirmed after verification of documents and NLU Delhi admission fee payment. 

NLU Delhi Application Procedure 2024

  • Visit the official website of the National Law University, New Delhi.

  • Register to generate login credentials.

  • Fill out the NLU Delhi application form.

  • Upload the required documents.

  • Pay the NLU Delhi application fee via debit card / credit card / net banking.

  • Candidates who are general or OBC must pay the NLU Delhi exam fee of Rs. 3500. However, the cost is Rs. 1500 for candidates from PwD, SC, or ST categories.

  • Submit and take a printout of the application form for future reference.

NLU Delhi UG Admissions 2024

National Law University, New Delhi offers three undergraduate programmes. NLU Delhi Courses at the UG level include B.A. L.L.B Hons, Bridge Course in Law One Year and Bridge Course in Law Two Year. The duration of B.A. L.L.B Hons is 5 years.

NLU Delhi B.A. L.L.B Hons Admission Process

  • Candidates have to register and appear for the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET).

  • After the declaration of the result, candidates are required to meet the cutoff.

  • Admission is done based on the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) and selection is solely on that basis. 

  • Further, the university will conduct AILET counselling on the basis of the rank list released at the time of result. 

  • In the counselling session, qualifying candidates are allotted seats based on merit. 

  • Final admission is confirmed after verification of documents and NLU Delhi admission fee payment.

NLU Delhi PG Admissions 2024

National Law University, New Delhi offers four postgraduate programmes. NLU Delhi courses at the PG level are PG Diploma in Environmental Law and Policy, PG Diploma in Tourism and Environmental Law, PG Diploma in Urban Environmental Management and Law and L.L.M. The course duration of the PG Diploma and L.L.M is 1 year.

NLU Delhi L.L.M Admission Process

  • Candidates are required to register and appear for the entrance exam - AILET PG.

  • Then, the result is declared, and candidates have to meet the cutoff.

  • Admission is offered based on the All India Law Entrance Test for L.L.M and selection is solely on that basis.

  • NLU Delhi releases the list of candidates shortlisted for AILET counselling.

  • Later, candidates are required to get their documents verified and pay the NLU Delhi fees.

NLU Delhi Ph.D Admissions 2024

National Law University, New Delhi offer one doctoral programme. The doctoral programme offered by NLU Delhi is Ph.D Law. The course duration of the Ph.D Law programme is 6 years.

NLU Delhi Ph.D Law Admission Process

  • Candidates have to appear and qualify for the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET).

  • Candidates with UGC-JRF and foreign nationals are exempted from the entrance test.

  • The NLU Delhi Ph.D admission is done through a two-stage selection process, which includes a written entrance test and the evaluation of research proposals followed by an interview / viva-voce.

  • Candidates must secure a minimum of 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST/PWD candidates) in the entrance test, evaluation of research proposals, and interview.

  • The Research Advisory Committee assists the Doctoral Committee in evaluating the research proposals as per the guidelines prescribed by NLU Delhi.

  • On the basis of the Doctoral Committee's recommendations, the Vice-Chancellor will approve the admissions.

  • The last step includes verification of documents and course fee payment.

The National Law University Delhi, provides seat reservations for different categories in accordance with the AILET 2024 Reservation Criteria. This includes OBC (22%), EWS (10%), SC (15%), ST (7.5%), and PwD (5%) categories. These reservations are applicable to both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

1: Does NLU Delhi have a Delhi quota?

As per the NLU Delhi's Admission Announcement 2020-21, 50% seats are reserved for students of Delhi. There is also reservation of seats for Foreign Nationals and quota for SC, ST, Person with Disabilities, Kashmiri migrants and residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

2: Is there any seat reservation for SC/ ST category in NLU Delhi?

Yes, there is 15% seat reservation for SC candidates and 7.5% for ST candidates at NLU Delhi.

3: What is the selection criteria for LLM offered at NLU Delhi?

For admission in L.L.M. course at NLU Delhi, students are required to appear for the AILET PG exam. Students have to meet the required cut-off in this exam. In the counselling round, students are allotted seats on merit basis and final admission is granted after verification of documents and payment of fee.

7: Does NLU Delhi provide scholarships?

Yes, NLU Delhi provides scholarships to its enrolled students who require financial assistance to continue their education. The list of scholarship schemes includes - Central Sector Scholarship (for SC, ST students), Post Matric scholarship for SC & OBC students, Scheme of Scholarships for students with Disabilities, Need cum Merit Financial Assistance to the deserving students, Merit Scholarship for SC/ST/OBC/Minorities students studying in Colleges/ Professional/ Technical Institutions and Fee waiver to deserving and needy student granted by the Vice-Chancellor.  

8: How many seats are there in NLU Delhi for LLM?

The total seat intake for the L.L.M course at NLU Delhi is 81 seats.

9: Is there a reservation in NLU Delhi?

Yes, there is reservation of seats on category basis. Selection in courses at NLU, Delhi is on the basis of merit as determined by the entrance test (AILET) subject to reservation of 15% for Scheduled Caste candidates, 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe candidates, 5% for Persons with Disability, one additional supernumerary seat for Kashmiri Migrants and two supernumerary seats for Residents of Jammu & Kashmir.

10: Can I get direct admission to NLU Delhi?

No, for admission in NLU Delhi, all candidates, other than those applying under the Foreign Nationals category  are required to appear in the AILET exam. Candidates are allotted seats based on AILET scores and subsequent counselling rounds. Then, final admission is confirmed after submission/verification of documents and payment of fee. Students should also note that Foreign Nationals are exempted from appearing in the AILET exam and direct admission to Foreign Nationals is provided on merit basis.

You have a very High chance of getting A National law university mumbai in 3rd or 4th list of CLAT 2018..because we have seen a trend that cutoff decreases with the new allotment list and luck also matters here

I will be very honest with youeven with vacancies your chances are very tough because lets be very practical there are no of students above you so that makes it tough for you . Though you can have some hope and try for jbp because it is a new institute and you might never no CLAt has always been unpredictable so do try for that and if you want you can also apply in upes though it is a private institute but it is a good institute.
