National University of Advanced Legal Studies was established in 2005 by the Kerala State Legislature Act. The campus of the university is spread over an area of 10 acres of land. National University of Advanced Legal Studies is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university is also recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The university has 16 academic centres. NUALS Kochi offers undergraduate, postgraduate diploma, postgraduate and doctoral courses. • Legal Aid Clinic- The clinic provides free legal aid to financially backward people. The clinic also organises awareness camps.

NUALS Kochi Courses

The institute offers courses at undergraduate, postgraduate diploma, postgraduate and doctoral levels. The mode of study of National University of Advanced Legal Studies courses is full-time. Admissions at the university are done on the basis of merit of the entrance test scores for UG and PG programmes, marks of the qualifying exam for PG diploma programmes and written test and interview for Ph.D programme. NUALS Kochi Admission Process - Ph.D Law

• First, meet the eligibility criteria.

• Second, fill the university application form.

• Third, appear for Departmental Admission Test (DAT).

• Fourth, UGC-JRF/NET lectureship examination qualified candidates are exempted from DAT.

• Fifth, 50% marks in DAT is the qualifying marks.

• Sixth, qualified candidates have to appear for an interview.

• Seventh, selection on the basis of the written test (70%) and interview (30%).

• Eighth, those candidates who are exempted from DAT, will be selected on the basis of scores of master’s degree (70%) and interview (30%).

NUALS Kochi Cutoff

National University of Advanced Legal Studies cutoffs are released after the declaration of CLAT and CLAT PG results for admission to B.A. L.L.B and L.L.M programme admission. NUALS Kochi Scholarships 

PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child, PG Scholarship Scheme for SC/ST Students for Pursuing Professional Courses, Ishan Uday - Special Scholarship Scheme for North Eastern Region and PG Scholarship for University Rank Holders (Ist and IInd Rank Holders), etc are the scholarships students can avail at NUAL Kochi. Thus, to avail NUALS Kochi scholarship, candidates have to apply for the scholarships offered by the UGC.

1. PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child- This scholarship can be availed by the girls’ students, whose age is up to 30 years and are pursuing a full-time 1st year PG programme. Rs. 36,200 per annum is the scholarship amount awarded under this scheme.

2. PG Scholarship for University Rank Holders (Ist and IInd Rank Holders)- To avail the scholarship, candidates should be pursuing a PG degree and should be a first or second rank holder and their age limit should be 30 years. Under this scheme, Rs. 3,100 per month is awarded.

NUALS Kochi Placement

The university placement cell provides placement and internship assistance to the students. The National University of Advanced Legal Studies placement cell also gives pre-placement training to the students. The pre-placement training includes training on personality development, group discussions and mock interviews. Companies visit the campus for NUALS Kochi placement. Students also have done their internships as an advocate and a judge.
