The Career Guidance and Placement Cell of Periyar University takes charge of the Periyar University placements. It also acts as a catalyst for job seekers and providers. The cell helps students to get trained, develop and improve their communication and interview skills. The cell conducts mocks tests, model tests, group discussions for the benefit of the student. Talks are being arranged by the cell for the students to help them understand the world of work. The cell also facilitates the selection process according to the company requirements. Locating suitable job opportunities is the main work of the cell so that they can help students by getting jobs and kickstart their professional career after completing their studies at Periyar University.

According to the Periyar University placement report for 2019-20 (data taken from NIRF report), for undergraduate (3 years courses), out of 146 eligible students for placement, 84 of them received job offers with a median salary of Rs. 9,60,000. On the other hand, for postgraduate courses, a total of 690 students were eligible for placement, out of which 169 were offered jobs while 76 opted for higher studies. The median salary offered to students after completing PG (3 years course) at Periyar University in 2019-20 was Rs. 1,20,000.
