Established in 1997, Periyar University covers the area comprising of four districts namely Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, and Krishnagiri. Periyar University Admissions

Aspirants must hold a postgraduate degree with 55% minimum marks to be eligible for admission to M.Phil.
Aspirants need to fill application form for M.Phil admissions.
Aspirants need to sit for an entrance examination (written test + interview) conducted by the university.
Those who have qualified for UGC/CSIR(NET)/SET/GATE examinations and Teacher Fellowship holders are exempted from the entrance test.
A rank list will be prepared by the university.
Aspirants who qualified in NET/SET/GATE examinations will get direct admissions and the remaining candidates are admitted through the entrance test.

Candidates who are awarded a national fellowship under RGNF, INSPIRE by funding organised will get admission in the Ph.D programme at Periyar University irrespective of their scores in the entrance examination.
