Infrastructure is good over all. Every department has got equipments like Wi-Fi, cold, normal and hot drinking Water, good benches and whiteboards. New students get new hostel with lift, WiFi and sea-facing rooms (only the 5th floor). Even, the campus is airy and there's no such pollution. The sky is so vivid that one can see all the constellations. Food is not very tasty, basic mess food. But most students cook using induction, as and when required. The campus beach is very close.
I'm studying Women's Studies because I'm a feminist. I'm pursuing Post-graduation. Teaching is really good. I feel that my curriculum is pretty up-to-date but there are some parts that need to be included like more emphasis on LGBTQ studies. But, still it's good enough to suffice one to clear UGC NET and get a respectable job.
I don't have much idea about this. I'm part of the first batch of Masters. But hopefully we all will get good prospective placements. The best thing is that we can also do internships along with studying.
My course fee for a whole year was approximately 20K. But I'm almost studying free of cost, because I've been getting scholarships. Entrance merit, topper merit Scholarships worth 10K are provided to all eligible students. (Each semester). Yes, of course money is worth.
Perhaps, one of the reasons why Pondicherry University is so popular. Campus life is amazing. It is so captivating and lively. There is no curfew for boys as well as girls. We can get out and in of the campus at any hour (even at 3AM). The campus is 800 Acres full of woods and close to the Sea. Weekend parties and bonfires within and outside the campus are quite scintillating. There are many clubs and SPECTRA (LGBTQ+ community) is a brilliant initiative. Everyone is supportive and compassionate.
Pondicherry University is a paradise. It's the best place as a Central University to make one's dream come true. The ocean and the sky are two mesmerizing reasons why PU will always remain close to its student's heart.
The institute area is at the center of the campus. Every classroom, libraries, laboratories are well equipped and well maintained. It has a centralized library, a canteen, a large sports ground, Amul shop, Nescafe shop, bank, etc. Overall the infrastructure is very good.
Because the quality of teaching is good and teacher also has great knowledge and And all staff and faculty are also well qualified they clear our doubt, Some teachers are friendly while some teachers are strict. Here you will meet every kind of teacher. Some teachers think that only students should make their best efforts, not teachers. The curriculum is updated.
the placements are not that much good. The quality of placement in our college is not so high or appreciating but if you deserve to be placed then you can get your opportunity through various other methods of placements and can achieve your dreams.
Being a science student, the facility which i would look for is the necessary laboratory and instrumentation facilities. Recently i have found that few instruments and machine which are very much beneficial for my project was under repair. Library is commendable with proper wifi and a good environment for studying. Though wifi in hostels show less strength at times, the living space is quite clean with the akkas coming regularly to clean. The food is hygienic except for the old menu we follow.
Im currently pursuing my masters in chem and i have taken up this subject because of my interest especially its practical sections that got inculcated right after my 10th std.the quality of teaching was poor suring my first three years of the course which gradually improved towards the last yrs of masters. The curriculum which our batch followed was not revised or updated.recently it got updated and will be put to effect for our junior's batch.i feel whatever we have studied can make us jobready
The quality of placements are quite good. Not sure of the percentage of students who got placed and the salary package. Recently the placements opportunity has been improving with a reliable salary. Since i have not tried for any placement as it would be mainly related to teaching profession for which im not much interested, i would not have much information related to the process and salaries. As far as i know our university has shown good support for students trying for placements.
Including all the hostel and mess fee, we pay almost 30,000-40,000 per year. The academic fees include the semester and examination fee which both added will be around 10,000-15,000 per year. Writing about the worth which we pay each semester, im quite satisfied though there has been instances during my course where i have felt that im not getting the full worth of the money which i have paid. Especially related to the falls in infrastructure which i have already mentioned.
Univ life is what im going to miss when ill be leaving after my course especially the campus. One of the best features about the univ is its greenery and the pleasant atmosphere. The reading hall, excellent library are few good features of this campus.Though the teachers and support staff are not too student friendly in our dept, they have been successful in giving us the proper guidance. We have always felt safe within the campus with a good security system. Its location is 11km far fron the town.
Good hostels , Classrooms are spacious. Library annexe is a good place equipped with Air conditioning where you can study without any disturbances. Only problem is with the transportation service there is no enough buses.
In the department there is a severe lack of faculties .Most of courses are taught by guest faculties and research scholars. Due to this even MA projects have to be done under their guidence which is not a good idea.
There is no placement for our course. For social science courses there is no placement or any kind of job opportunities that would be readily available after the completion of the course . Most of the alumni have undergone seperate coaching getting to jobs. before
It's costlier than most Central Universities
It's the best . Near to a beach like a vacation
Fair classroom with smart boards and projectors, but which are not used properly. Hostels are fine, but sports centers are very very ill maintained. Gym's situation is even worst. Mess food's quality is ill
Senior Permanent Faculty here is definitely a blessing but the issue is with the giest facilties they recruit, who are very poor and coming to curriculum, it indeed is updated but no feild trips or practical teaching..... Atleast an compulsory internship or a feildtrip to excavation kidda thing should be included.
For History its zero and even gor others courses, what i here frim from friends..... It doesn't provide much actually. When they are exposed to practical knowledge, one can expect but here it is just theory.
Comparatively it is expensive to other central Universities, and has less facilities plus poor mess and the merit scholarships are less, which is not fair. When it is charging more than other Government funded Universities, it should atleast guve equal facilities which HCU or DU give
The grenary of campus and its location are positive.
classrooms are well equipped with projectors and wifi . All the buildings in the university has wifi . sufficient number of hostels are there. university has a library that works till 8 pm and a reading room adjacent to library that functions till 12 pm. Only drawback is the food in mess. food is not that tasty but it is better than many other colleges to my understanding
I Am pursuing Geology. the syllabus of our course is well structured. We have optional softcore courses which have been introduced keeping competitive exams in mind. My classmates have performed very well in competitive exams like GATE, UGC-CSIR NET, Combined Geoscientist exam etc. The faculties are very passionate about teaching and give proper guidance to the students.
The is no campus placements for my department. other course like MBA , MSC physics have campus recruitments. For my course they are many exams that we can write to get a job. but there is no campus recruitment
The fees have hiked this last year . But considering the quality of education we get comparing to other colleges i feel the money is worth.
campus area is large and have an appreciable area of forest. women students can feel secure thann outside and have a peaceful walk at night (which is difficult experience to get in india ). There no dress codes. every year various celebrations such as Hostel day celebration, holi, pongal, onam, football tournaments, academic fares and cultural activities happen in campus . campus is active politically with student council elections every year.
This university and place will change you and help you to grow mentally in ways you cant imagine
The department is well equipped with WiFi as well as some instruments, even though some may be damaged occasionally. In such cases, you would have to go to Chennai or Delhi to carry out your projectwork, if there is any.
The current faculty members are well informed and are professionals in their respective fields. Even though some stalwart faculty members , the earth sciences department should be able to cop up with the irreplaceable dent.
Actually, there is no placement for applied geology course. By the time you complete the course, you would be writing certain competitive examinations. To continue in the field of geology in India, you would have to clear at least one of them.
In the recent years, funds for field are dwindling. But, affordable. Recently, the administration has hiked the fees for certain courses. Earth sciences anyhow didn't come under it till now. Stipend is also provided for well performing students , although it will take a lot of time for it to be wired to our accounts.
Campus life is one of the best in the entire country. The vast campus along with the greenish cover provides an extraordinary experience. If you're an integrated student, NOSTALGIA ALERT...
Infrastructure else this campus is pretty good. The funding is good, so the quality of the buildings and classrooms and labs is good. There are no smart boards, but many classrooms are air conditioned and there is WiFi throughout the campus. The living spaces are average with compulsory sharing. The food is adequate.
I'm studying Post graduation in economics. The department is good with good faculty. However, there has been no appointment to the vacancies in the department and this is causing stress. The syllabus is updated to standards all over the country. This course is tuned for a career in research and the department is doing that.
My department has a very poor quality in placements with very few students getting jobs through the university route. Less than 5% students have been placed. However the department is more tuned towards research and students do generally tend to get into top institutes for their PhDs.
My course costs me 10000 rupees per year. You have to add food and lodging to this and the total will be around 30k per year. The fees are highly subsidised because it is a central university. Considering the features we are getting the value for money compared to private institutions is good. However, among govt universities, ours has one of the highest fees.
The best part about college life is the large carefree liberal campus. The massive size and the complete lack of any controls is an experience which could make adults of us. The teachers and staff are a lil aloof. However, safety is pretty good. But there have been incidents of sexual harrassment by students and staff. The campus has a health centre and 2 medical colleges in a vicinity of 8 kms
Good environment to study and excel, students should be provided proper guidance and facilities should be used in an apt manner. Funding to the university is also a major issue, due to lack of funds student's are missing activities such as field trips
Guest faculties should be selected with more exposure so that students can really learn anything instead of just attending classes for attendance. Apart from classes students should be encouraged of practical approach which we find missing in the department
As I K student of history department I don't find any placement opportunities. The culture of mutual exchange between universities and encouraging students to join think tanks is completely absent. Encouragement for arts is necessary
It could be improved a lot with cooperation of faculties
Calm and cool

Many students of the department has cleared net exam and it provides a teaching career to many students. Many aluminis of the department are made notable achievements in the field of academics and archaeology.
The MBA departments especially Management studies, International Bussiness and Tourism studies provide many placement opportunities to the students. Though the initial salaries are not much excitable it provide a better job experience to the students. The university try to provide better placement options to the students. The students have to pass many tests mainly interview and activities to get placement in the best institutions.
