The cutoff ranks are determined based on the following factors:
Difficulty Level of the Entrance Test: The difficulty level of the entrance test determines the cutoffs of courses in a particular year largely. The chances of ranks to be on the lower side is high if the paper is tough. However, if the paper is easy, it is vice versa.
Previous Year Cut Offs : The previous year cut offs is yet another influencing factor determining the cut-offs trend for the current year. It is a rare case for ranks to vary from the previous year by a huge margin from the previous year.
Seat Availability of Courses: Seats vary from each other for different courses. The seat availability matrix is an important consideration in determining the ranks for a certain course.
Number of Applicants: The number of applicants is more for traditional and emerging industry-based courses. Based on the number of seats available for a certain course, the difficulty level of the entrance test and the previous year trend, college administrations filter applicants for the final admissions process to a certain course.
