36 MonthsGeneral Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) is a three-year full-time diploma program offered by Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences, Amritsar, and approved by the Indian Nursing Council (INC).
The General Nursing and Midwifery course shall be open only to women candidates who –
a) has passed Senior Secondary (Part II), i.e. 10+2 examination of the Punjab School Education Board or an equivalent examination from any other Board/University, preferably with Science subjects, i.e. Physics, Chemistry & Biology, with not less than 40% marks in aggregate, Candidates of other stream are also eligible.
b) Has studied Punjabi up to Matric standard (This is not applicable to candidates seeking admission under category 4.2 - A, i.e. against seats open to candidates belonging to Sikh Community on an All-India basis).
c) Has attained, or shall be attaining, the age of 17 years, but shall not be completing 35 years on 31st December of the year of admission.
d) Is domicile of the State of Punjab (in the case of persons seeking admission to seats under category 4.2 - B above)
e) Shall be medically fit.
The selection of the candidates for admission to the course shall be made on merit, based on the marks obtained by them in the qualifying examination, i.e. 10+2. The decision of the selection board shall be final. Preference will be given to the candidates who have completed 10+2 in Medical Stream followed by Non-Medical, Commerce & Arts
