Thapar University Admissions 2023-24: Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala offers admission to undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes. Thapar University admissions are offered to BE/BTech, ME/MTech, MCA, MA and MSc courses in different specialisations. Thapar University admissions to a majority of courses are entrance-based. Thapar University BE admission is done through two modes; merit (marks obtained in the qualifying examination) and JEE Main. For Thapar University admission to B.Tech Biotechnology and B.Tech Biomedical Engineering courses, NEET scores are taken into consideration for 50% of the total seats. The remaining 50% of seats are filled on the basis of merit. TIET Patiala admission to MA, MCA, and M.Sc courses is done on the basis of merit of past qualifying examinations. Final admissions are done only after verification of documents and course fee payment.

Thapar University UG Admissions 

 TIET Patiala offers admission to several undergraduate courses in different specialisations. The UG courses at TIET Patiala consist of B.Tech, BE and BE and MBA Integrated  courses with multiple specialisations.  Thapar University UG eligibility criteria is that candidates must have passed 10+2 from a recognised university.

Thapar University BE/BTech Admission Process 

• Appear for JEE Main and obtain a valid score.
• Fill Thapar University application form.
• The university selects candidates for admission based on JEE Main scores.
• Candidates selected need to participate in university counselling. 
• Final selection of candidates is done based on their performance in the entrance exam. 
• Complete TIET Patiala admission process by submitting the required documents and paying course fees.

Note - 50% of the total BE/BTech seats shall be filled on the basis of percentile-based merit of JEE Main while the rest 50% of seats shall be filled on the basis of merit.

Thapar University BTech Biotechnology/Biomedical Engineering Admission

• Candidates need to apply and appear for NEET and obtain a valid score.
• Based on the scores of NEET candidates have to submit online applications on the TIET Patiala website.
• The university will shortlist the students as per the marks obtained by the candidates in the NEET for 50% of the total seats.
• Shortlisted candidates have to be a part of the counselling process.
• Confirm the Thapar University admission process by paying course fees and submitting the required documents. 

Note- For BTech – Biotechnology and BTech – Biomedical Engineering, 50% (30) seats shall be offered to candidates of 10+2 PCM background and 50% (30) seats shall be offered to candidates of 10+2 PCB background

Thapar University BE Lateral Entry Admission Process

• Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria need to apply for admission.
• Visit the official website and fill the TIET Patiala application form.
• Next, candidates need to appear for the Lateral Entry Engineering Test (LEET) conducted by the varsity.
• Based on LEET scores, candidates are selected for Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology admission.

Thapar University PG Admissions 

 TIET Patiala offers admission to various postgraduate courses in different disciplines. Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology courses at the PG level include ME, M.Tech, MA, M.Sc and many other courses. The varsity provides lateral entry admission to the MCA course as well. The duration of all the postgraduate courses is 2 years. Thapar University PG eligibility criteria is that candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in the relevant stream from a recognised university.

Thapar University MTech Admission Process

• Appear for GATE and obtain a valid score.
• Next, fill TIET Patiala application form.
• First preference will be given to GATE-qualified candidates and who have obtained at least 60% (55% for SC/ST/Industry sponsored) marks in the aggregate in the qualifying examination from a recognised university
• Candidates need to participate in university counseling and interview. 
• After offering seats to the GATE qualified candidates, the admission to remaining vacant seats (if any) shall be filled on the basis of merit prepared by giving 30% weightage to 12th marks and 70% weightage to B.E./B.Tech. marks.
• Shortlisted students must participate in the counselling.
• Shortlisted candidates are required to submit documents and pay course fees to secure admission. 

Thapar University Admission Process- MA, MSc, MCA and MCA Lateral Entry

• Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria need to apply for Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology admission. 
• Visit the official website and fill out the application form.
• The university selects candidates for admission based on their past academic performance. 
• For M.Sc. admission, 12th standard (40%) and graduation (60%) marks are considered.
• For M.C.A. and M.A. admission, 10th, 12th and graduation scores are taken into consideration. 
• Candidates who are selected for admission need to visit the campus.
