Hello,
Thapar is much better choice than Amity University. This is due to a number of reasons. First of all, It has been ranked as the 4th best engineering college in India after BITS Pilani, IIIT Hyderabad, and BIT Mesra. It takes admission on the basis of JEE Mains score, Thus its credibility increases. This also makes it a fair system for all the students. It has also maintained NIRF rank under 30.
Thapar Univeristy is also really good in terms of crowd, brand, studies, research, placements, campus environment, etc.
I hope this helps,
