Tripura University: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Tripura University is a central public university established in 1987. The varsity was initially established as a state university. In 2007, it was upgraded to a central university under the Tripura University Act, 2006 as enacted by the Parliament. The university is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). With a CGPA of 2.63, NAAC has accredited the varsity with a ‘B’ grade. Presently, 46 colleges are affiliated to Tripura University Suryamaninagar. The campus of the university covers an area of 75 acres. The varsity has 46 departments and 158 faculty members offering 61 programmes.

The varsity has postgraduate diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and integrated courses. To take admission in courses offered by Tripura University, candidates need to appear for Tripura University Entrance Test (TUET) conducted by the university. CAT/MAT/XAT/CMAT scores are also accepted by the varsity for admission in the Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) programme. The topper students of 10+2 of Tripura Board of Secondary Examination and  graduates of Tripura University respectively are exempted from the TUET. Tripura University has collaboration with various institutions and industries to provide quality education to the students.

A well established placement assistance cell is there to provide placements to students. The students of Tripura University Suryamaninagar can avail various state level and national level scholarships. The campus of the university has accommodation facilities, library, playgrounds etc. for students.

The university is located at NH8, Suryamani Nagar, Agartala, Tripura, India. The varsity is situated 18.3 km away from the nearest airport - Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport. The closest railway station to Tripura University Suryamaninagar is Sekerkote Railway Station. It is located 3 km away from the campus. With a distance of 95 km, Shahepratap Mor Bus Stop is the closest bus stop to the varsity.

National Service Scheme (NSS) - The varsity NSS club works for the betterment of society. It conducts various programmes and inculcates social responsibility among students. 

Tripura University Facilities and Infrastructure

The university has a central library with a rich collection of books, journals and digital resources. The university also provides accommodation facilities for the outstation students. Separate hostels for boys and girls students are also available at the campus. Tripura University facilities ensure students spend their time at the campus without facing any difficulties. The varsity also has a modern auditorium, canteen with a seating capacity of over 100 people, medical centre etc. The entire campus of the university is wifi enabled. Students can use wifi even at hostels and playgrounds. Both indoor and outdoor sports facilities are available at the campus. Tripura University Suryamaninagar Courses

There are a total of 9 integrated, 6 postgraduate diploma, 4 undergraduate and 42 postgraduate courses offered by the university. Tripura University courses are provided in engineering, commerce, management, sciences and many more streams. B.B.A, B.Lib.I.Sc. and B.Vovc. are the Tripura University UG courses. Whereas, M.C.A., M.B.A., M.A. etc. are a few of the Tripura University PG courses. All the courses are offered in regular mode.

Tripura University Admissions

Only candidates who meet the eligibility criteria of the desired programme can apply for admissions at Tripura University. The varsity gives admission in UG, PG, integrated and PG diploma programmes. Tripura University Entrance Test is conducted by the university for admission in its various courses. As per the Tripura University admission criteria, it is mandatory for candidates to appear for TUET. However, toppers of Tripura Board of Secondary Examination (10+2) are exempted from TUET. Likewise, Tripura University toppers (UG) wishing to take admission in PG courses are exempted for TUET.  Furthermore, For admission in the M.B.A. programme, candidates with a valid score in CAT/CMAT/XAT/MAT are also exempted from TUET. However, they still need to appear for personal interview and group discussion. Candidates can apply for Tripura University admissions by filling the application form available on the official website.

Tripura University Suryamaninagar Admission Process - UG Courses

• Fill the application form and appear for TUET.

• Based on the TUET score and past academic record, the merit list is released by the university. 

• Candidates meeting merit list requirements need to participate in university counselling. 

• Submit documents and deposit course fees.

Tripura University Admission Procedure - M.B.A.

• Fill Tripura University application form and take up TUET.

• Candidates with a valid score in MAT/XAT/CAT/CMAT are exempted from TUET.

• Next, appear for personal interview (PI) and group discussion (GD). 

• Merit list is released based on entrance score, marks in bachelor degree and performance in PI & GD.

• Participate in varsity counselling, deposit programme fee and submit documents. 

Tripura University PG Diploma and PG Courses (other than M.B.A.) Admission Steps

• Apply for admission by filling the application form.

• Sit for TUET and obtain a valid score.

• M.F.A., Master of Music and M.P.Ed. admission criteria will be based on 50% marks inTUET and 50% marks in the practical exam to be held by the concerned department.

• Next, based on the entrance score and bachelor degree score, the merit list is released by the university. 

• The final step is participation in counselling and deposition of fees and documents.

Tripura University Suryamaninagar Scholarships

The university offers a variety of scholarships and fee concessions to the students. In order to avail Tripura University scholarships or fee concessions, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria set by the university. The university is registered on the national scholarship portal and as a result of that students can avail various state level and national level scholarships. A few of the Tripura University scholarships (state and national level) are Beedi Workers Scholarship, North East Council Scholarship and Post Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child.
