The university offers admission to PG level courses in different streams. Tumkur University admissions are offered to P.G.D, M.Sc, M.A, M.Com, M.S.W, M.Com (IS), M.B.A and M.C.A. As per Tumkur University admission criteria, candidates have to first meet the required eligibility criteria. Admission to courses at Tumkur University is governed by the rules and regulations framed by the university from time to time. Tumkur University admission will be made through counselling. Tumkur University admission to P.G.D, M.Sc, M.A, M.Com, M.S.W, M.Com (IS) is done based on the merit of the candidates in the qualifying examination. For M.B.A and M.C.A programmes, admission is offered directly through Karnataka Examinations Authority (K.E.A). The final admission will be offered after the verification of documents and fee payment.

Candidates must have passed bachelor degree of a minimum of 3-years duration. Obtained at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying examination.
Candidates have to appear for the entrance exam- Karnataka PGCET conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (K.E.A).
Then the cutoff list is released and candidates have to participate in the PGCET counselling.
Admission and allotment of seats will be made by K.E.A. Bengaluru.
