University of Burdwan is a State University owned by the government that was established in the year 1960. University of Burdwan, Bardhaman offers a total of 152 courses across 4 levels including Diploma, UG, PG and doctoral. The university offers B.A and M.A admissions across multiple specialisations. The university provides admission to PG courses via merit based (60% seats) and entrance based (40% seats). The university also offers 6 year long doctoral courses under multiple specialisations. A total of 174 colleges are affiliated to University of Burdwan. The university also has a dedicated placement cell that aims to get as many students recruited every year as possible.

Burdwan University Scholarships

There are a number of scholarships that are offered to the students of Burdwan University through various sources. These scholarships are either given out to students belonging to economically weaker sections or to students who have given exemplary performance in their academics. Burdwan University has a dedicated cell that looks after the placements of the students. The cell is responsible for coordinating with the companies and inviting them to their campus for the recruitment process. The aim of the IIPC is to ensure a maximum number of job opportunities are provided to students at Burdwan University placement drives. According to the Burdwan University placement data (NIRF report) 2021-22, the university has had successful placement drives. Out of a total of 87 UG 3 year programmes students, 37 students were placed, with a median salary of Rs. 1,50,000. During the same year, 1142 students were placed from the PG (2-Year) Programme, with a median salary of Rs. 2,37,000.
