    About Kashmir University

    University of Kashmir (KU) is the state university of Kashmir and it was established in 1948. Kashmir University has been approved by the UGC and its NIRF ranking for 2020 in the overall category is 48.  However, in NIRF 2021 ranking, the University of Kashmir has been ranked 76th in the overall category. The varsity has maintained consistency in the university category of the NIRF ranking as it has been ranked 48 in the NIRF ranking 2021 and 2020 as well. 

    NAAC has awarded an ‘A+’ grade to KU. The University of Kashmir offers more than 70 courses and the total student enrollment is more than 16 thousand. The total number of faculty in KU is 408 and the campus size is around 328 acres. 

    The main campus of KU is divided into three parts - Mirza Bagh campus, Hazratbal campus and Naseem Bagh campus. The vision of the university is to be a world-class university that is committed to creating and disseminating knowledge for the purpose of human development and welfare. Kashmir University’s mission is to create an environment that promotes excellence in teaching, research and also facilitates academic freedom, diversity and harmony.

    The university has many clubs. University of Kashmir clubs are present to provide the students a platform to explore and showcase their talents. These clubs also help the students in learning essential skills which will help them in the future. Kashmir University clubs are -

    • Literary Club - Essay writing, poetry writing and many more such activities are done by this club. 

    • Debating Club - Debates, extempore, etc are conducted by this club. 

    • Music Club - Activities include music competitions, classes, etc.

    Many facilities are provided by the university to the students and staff. University of Kashmir facilities help the students in making the most of their time in the university. There are medical facilities that include 24-hour medical OPD, free medicines, etc. A total of 9 hostels are present in Kashmir University and they have many facilities like a reading room, television, gym, etc. University of Kashmir library has a large collection of books and even caters to the blind.     The university offers admission to many courses. KU admissions happen through entrance examinations. These entrance exams vary according to the course. For admission into the B.Tech course, a candidate must appear for JEE Main (Paper 1) while for M.B.A the scores of CMAT are considered. Applying for the course is the first step for securing admission to the University of Kashmir. In KU Kashmir seats are also reserved for certain categories and all the reserved seats add up to 33%.

    University of Kashmir Scholarships

    Merit scholarships, research scholarships and student aid are the scholarships offered by the university. Students who have taken admission in any of the courses are eligible for merit scholarships. Eligible students can avail themselves of two merit scholarships. One merit scholarship is offered based on merit in the entrance examination and the other is based on merit in the college examinations. University of Kashmir research scholarships are awarded by each department. Four scholarships are awarded by each department and the basic requirement for this is research leading to the award of Ph.D./MPhil degrees. Student aid is also a Kashmir University scholarship. It is given to meritorious students who come from low-income families.

    Centre for Career Planning and Counselling (CCPC) is the placement cell of the university. Many activities are undertaken by the University of Kashmir placement cell.     Courses offered by Kashmir University

    KU admissions happen via entrance examinations and admissions are given to UG and PG courses. For Kashmir University admissions either the university conducts entrance exams or it considers scores of other entrance exams like JEE Main, CMAT, GPAT, GATE, UGAT, etc. Registration is the first step which the candidates have to take to acquire admission into KU. 33% of seats in a programme are filled from amongst the reserved categories while the rest is filled from the open merit category. University of Kashmir admissions for general courses the entrance exam carries a weightage of 60 marks. For Kashmir University M.B.A admissions 80% weightage is for CMAT whereas the rest is for group discussion. For M.Pharma admissions GPAT scores are taken into account and for B.Tech admissions, JEE Main score is taken into consideration.

    Kashmir University Scholarship

    Many scholarships are offered by the University of Kashmir. Kashmir University scholarships include merit scholarships, research scholarships and student aid. Kashmir University merit scholarships are available to students who have taken admission in any of the courses. Two KU merit scholarships are available for the eligible students. University of Kashmir merit scholarships are given to the top two merit holders. One merit scholarship is offered based on merit in the entrance examination while the second merit scholarship is offered based on merit in the first and second-semester examination. Kashmir University scholarships also include research scholarships. Four scholarships are awarded from each department for carrying out research leading to the award of PhD/MPhil degrees. Students aid is also a scholarship awarded by KU. KU student aid scheme is given to meritorious students who come from low income families.     Kashmir University Admission

    KU admissions happen via entrance examinations and admissions are given to UG and PG courses. For Kashmir University admissions either the university conducts entrance exams or it considers scores of other entrance exams like JEE Main, CMAT, GPAT, GATE, UGAT, etc. Registration is the first step which the candidates have to take to acquire admission into KU. 33% of seats in a programme are filled from amongst the reserved categories while the rest is filled from the open merit category. University of Kashmir admissions for general courses the entrance exam carries a weightage of 60 marks. For Kashmir University M.B.A admissions 80% weightage is for CMAT whereas the rest is for group discussion. For M.Pharma admissions GPAT scores are taken into account and for B.Tech admissions, JEE Main score is taken into consideration.

    Kashmir University UG admissions are offered for L.L.B, B.Tech, B.Pharma, B.A, B.P.A and B.V.A.     The department of pharmaceutical sciences, University of Kashmir have all the necessary infrastructure, facilities and equipments. The department have digital classrooms like smart boards, the laboratories are fully equipped with advanced instruments, we have a good library in our department as well as we have a central library of our university besides we have separate hostel for boys and girls having all facilities including wifi. The living spaces are clean and the food is hygienic.

    To take admission in MCA course a candidate must have minimum 60% in in their BCA or B.sc (CSE) or B.sc (IT), or any other computer related degree like B.tech CSE/IT from a recognized university.

    As you have BA degree so you are not eligible to take admission in MCA course.
