The MIT University of Shillong formerly known as the University of Technology and Management is a privatised state university established in 2011, under section 3 of the UGC act. The university is located in Shillong, the state capital of Meghalaya within the union of India. It is the first university to introduce cloud computing engineering as a field of study, in collaboration with IBM. The university offers UG, PG and Ph.D. including the School of Management Studies, School of Science and Technology, MIT Institute of Design, School of Nursing, etc. MIT University Shillong is a part of the MIT group of institutions.

MIT University Shillong Location

MIT University is situated in the beautiful Shillong of Meghalaya. Shillong is mainly known as the ‘Abode of Clouds’, for its captivating view of hills, valleys, waterfalls and lakes. The university is well-connected by Flight, Road, and Railway from Guwahati. The Shillong Airport in Umroi is about 35 km away. 

Flights that often operate back and forth are offered by most airlines such as Air India, AirAsia, and Vistra from Delhi, Bagdogra, Bangalore, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Imphal. Upon touching base at the airport many can take bus services or hire tax to reach various destinations in Shillong. Travelling by road is a great way to reach MIT, Shillong many thanks to the Meghalaya Transport Corporation (MTC) and Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) buses. Those travelling by road in a car can take the NH 40 travel time of approx 3-4 hours. Railway station which is about 135 km away. Guwahati Railway is well-connected to major cities in India via an extensive rail network.
