NLUs offer scholarships and financial aid programmes. Some external scholarships are also offered by governments and private organizations.
The Government of India offers various scholarships to students from marginalised castes or who fulfil specific merit criteria.
The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment offers the scheme to SC students pursuing a 5 year LLB programme at any of the NLUs.The annual income must be Rs 8 lakh per annum.
The MoTA offers this scheme to ST students. It covers tuition fees, boarding and lodging expenses, book grants, and a one-time computer purchase grant.
The Department of Higher Education, MoE implements the scheme. Students should have secured above 80% in the relevant stream in Class 12.
It is for meritorious students from northeastern states. At least 60% marks is required in Class 12. Family’s annual income should not exceed Rs 8 lakh.
In the legal stream, students are offered Rs 1,80,000 PA, or the actual course fees, whichever is lower. Students should have a CLAT rank within the top 20 in their NLU.
