Held for admission to management programmes. Conducted by IIMs.
Tests quantitative ability, verbal ability, data interpretation and logical reasoning
GATE: Duration - 3 hours
Online exam: MCQs, MSQs and NATs
CAT: Timing - 2 hours
Computer-based test: MCQs and non-MCQs with negative marking
GATE: Focuses more upon in-depth knowledge of the subjects.
CAT: Requires students to undergo critical thinking as well as time management
GATE:Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts/Humanities graduates or appealing in their final year.
CAT: Bachelor's degree with 50% (45% for SC/ST/PwD). Final year students are also eligible.
GATE: Aug-Sept. Online application through GATE Online Application Processing System, GOAPS.
CAT: Aug-Sept. Apply online on the official CAT website.
GATE: 3 years. Valid scores can be used for admissions or PSU recruitments for 3 years.
CAT: 1 year. Apply for admission during the very same year
