Scholastic Aptitude Test is a standardized test, for admission to undergraduate programmes in the US, Canada, and other countries. SAT evaluates candidates skills in maths, reading, and writing.
Test of English as a Foreign Language is a standardized English language proficiency test. TOEFL evaluates reading, speaking, listening and writing skills of non native speakers aspiring to study in English speaking universities.
SAT is attempted by school students of Class 11 and 12, planing to pursue UG courses. SAT measures students readiness for college.
TOEFL evaluates the English language ability of non-native speakers planing to study in English-speaking universities.
SAT comprises two sections: Reading and Writing and Math. Reading and Writing section includes 54 questions, while Math section includes 44 questions. The total exam duration is 134 minutes.
There are four sections in the TOEFL exam
—reading, speaking, listening, and writing
—take about 2 hours to complete the test.
SAT total score range is 400–1600, while the score range for each section is 200–800. The SAT scores for both the sections are combined to get a total score.
The score range for each section of the TOEFL is between 0 and 30, reflecting the students' levels of English proficiency. The TOEFL total score ranges from 0-120.
