Born in 1932 in Gah (now in Pakistan), Manmohan Singh began his schooling in a village.
After India’s Partition in 1947, Singh completed his education in Amritsar and excelled in academics despite many challenges.
He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Economics at Punjab University in 1952, graduating at the top of his class.
In 1954, Singh earned his Master’s degree in Economics from Punjab University, gaining a deeper understanding of economic principles.
In 1957, Singh graduated with a first-class award in Economics from St. John’s College, Cambridge.
He earned his doctorate in Economics from Nuffield College, Oxford, in 1962, focusing on India’s trade policy.
Singh taught at the Panjab University and at the Delhi School of Economics, DU.
His educational background and vision made him the architect of the Indian economy. India’s 13th prime minister was truly a global economic thinker.
