Aligarh Muslim University or AMU is a central university, owned by the government. The university was established in 1920. The AMU Aligarh accepts co-education and is approved by UGC. As per your question, external student is someone who completes the course without attending the lectures physically. Internal student are someone who attends the classes physically.
If you have passed BA externally, then you won't be getting the certificate as internal student.

The Diploma in Teaching programme at Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh is a full-time, two-year degree that includes four semesters of social science faculty work. The department conducts a test as a requirement for enrollment in this course. The test consists of several sessions, such as general awareness and current affairs, English language, reasoning and intelligence, indo-islamic culture and Aligarh movement, Accountancy, Business studies, Economics, elementary mathematics and statistics and numerical ability.
For candidates from the C/ST/BC/OBC categories, there are no such cost reductions or refunds available for online programmes. After being accepted into a university programme, a student cannot withdraw from the programme. However, 100 per cent of the fees will be reimbursed if the student notifies the programme of their intent to leave at least 15 days prior to the officially announced deadline for enrollment in the regular courses.

MBBS, BDS and BUMS has criteria for both external and internal (institutional) applicants, with slightly different cut-off marks. The cutoff for internal students in the AMU MBBS programme is usually 10 to 20 points lower than the cutoff for external students. The cutoff of NEET 2019 and 2020 at AMU is 585 for the internal students and 619 for the external students for MBBS. The cutoff of NEET at AMU is 543 for the internal students and 563 for the external students for BDS.
