Banshi College of Education, Kanpur, was established in 2004. It is a co-educational affiliated college situated in Bithoor, Kanpur, in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The college offers teacher education approved by the National Council for Teacher Education. The main campus of the college is spread over 5.51 acres and has three full-time courses. Total student enrolment in the institute is 614. The institute has a faculty strength of 48, resulting in a good student-teacher ratio.

Several amenities are provided in Banshi College of Education for the improvement of the learning experience. The resource room has a well-stocked library with books, CDs, about 4,000 related books to teaching and learning, and subscribed national and international newspapers, magazines, and journals. The college has facilities for playing cricket, football, hockey, basketball, table tennis, and lawn tennis, in addition to a well-maintained gymnasium and a newly constructed running track. Apart from this, the college also houses an IT infrastructure, including a computer centre having software packages like SPSS and ERP for facilitating data analysis and preparation for projects.

The Banshi College of Education offers a total of three full-time courses. The intake capacity of the B.Ed programme is 200, that of the B.P.Ed programme is 50, and for the D.El.Ed 100. All three have been designed for successful standing in the making of teaching and educational professionals.

Admission to the B.Ed. programme is made purely on the merit basis as per marks obtained in the qualifying examination and entrance examination by the state government and university policies. The B.P.Ed. course is under Kanpur University. It conducts its own entrance test and counselling for coaching admissions. In the same way, merit-based admissions are conducted by D.El.Ed., considering marks of the qualifying examination and/or results of the entrance examination, in conformity with the policies of the state government.
