Bethlahem College of Education is inaugurated in 2005 with the primary aim of delivering quality education to the students through its guest lecturer Tamil Nadu Kanyakumari District Karungal. This is a coeducational institute located in a vast area of 5.28 acres whose main aim is to produce professional educators. Recognised by NCTE, Bethlahem College of Education provides scope in education and offers two courses. The annual student enrolment in the college is 360 and the faculty members strength is 37 so there is an ideal student teacher ratio and so emphasis is given to provide quality education to all students.

Bethlahem College of Education has numerous facilities that are deemed to improve the college learning experience of many of its students. In the centre of the campus facilities, a modern library is situated in order to be corer of the knowledge for all the members of the school. It stocks a large number of educational materials, facilitating curriculum and research needs of the students. The institution also has well equipped laboratories that assists students especially those in the field of education to have practical experience. For activities and other functions, the college provides a large auditorium. The students of this school are privileged to have the school cafeteria, a functional gymnasium, and other sporting amenities that can all help in the students’ healthy development. The college also boasts of a health centre which has own amenities including the first aid to meet the needs of the students.

At present, Bethlahem College of Education offers two full-time courses that are Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and Masters of Education (M.Ed) programmes. The B.Ed programme, with the intake capacity of 100 students, is of two years’ duration and focuses to produce skilled and knowledgeable teachers. The other programme of study in the institution is the M.Ed course which has a capacity of 50 students and also takes two years to complete and deals with theories and practices in education. Both programmes are delivered in full-time learning, allowing one to devote themselves to learning exercises in its entirety.

The admission process at Bethlahem College of Education relies on the candidates’ performance in the qualifying examinations and/entrance tests. Upholding the policies of the state government and the affiliated university, admissions for B.Ed programme is given on merit of qualifying/entrance examination. Likewise, the admissions for M.Ed are conducted as per the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and entrance test as per rules and regulation of State Government or Central Government or University existing at that time. The college offers accommodation services to the students and to improve social communication; only students of the same gender are accommodated. Since the college started operating, it has demonstrated a willingness to provide quality education and nurture the human resource for the future in the region.
