Maulana Azad College, Kolkata was established in 1924 and founded by Lord Lytton, the contemporary Governor of Bengal with the sole motive of promoting Islamic learning and general education among the Muslim population. In 1960, the college was again renamed as Maulana Azad College in memory of the great national leader Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad. It is one of the best colleges under University of Calcutta. It is full government college. The infrastructure and all facilities are splendid. It has seperate hostels for girls and boys.
