SUM College of Teacher Education was established in 2006 in Kannur and has earned a reputation as one of the premier institutions dealing with the future of education. Taking an overall enrolment of one hundred students and 11 faculty members, the college has a manageable student-teacher ratio, guaranteeing an individual approach and tutor-student interactions.

SUM College of Teacher Education has a number of facilities aimed at complementing the learning process, as well as the individual growth of learners. At this time, the SUM College of Teacher Education has only one major course offering, the B.Ed programme. This is a two-year full-time course with an approved annual student capacity of 50 students this is in order to make sure that the college upholds a sound student-teacher ratio to give quality education to the students. The curriculum of the B.Ed programme will allow the students to acquire the knowledge and skills required in the modern teaching fraternity.
