What is the full form of DCGI?

The full form of DCGI is the Drugs Controller General of India. The Central Medications Standard Control Organization of the Government of India is headed by the DCGI, which approves licenses for particular classes of drugs such as blood and blood products, IV fluids, vaccines, and sera. The Drugs Controller General of India reports to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Additionally, DCGI sets requirements for India's pharmaceutical production, marketing, distribution, and import.

Functions of DCGI

The standards and quality for medication production, sales, imports, and distribution in India are set by DCGI.

  • Establishment and upkeep of a national reference standard.

  • To ensure that the Drugs and Cosmetics Act is consistently enforced.

  • The education of drug analysts is assigned by state drug control laboratories and other organizations.

  • Analyses of cosmetics CDSCO provided as survey samples (central drug standard control organization)
