JOHAR stands for Jharkhand Opportunities for Rural Growth. On the anniversary of the State Establishment Day of Jharkhand (November 15, 2017), the President Of India, Ramnath Kovind, announced the JOHAR initiative worth Rs 1,500 crore. The JOHAR project aims to double the earnings of two lakh BPL and impoverished rural people in the state of Jharkhand. This scheme is collectively supported by the Central Government, State Governments, and the World Bank. This scheme is exHarnessingpected to bring about a qualitative increase in advanced agricultural, animal husbandry, fishery, and minor forest produce items in the rural areas of Jharkhand.
The state government gives subsidized financial assistance to young citizens and encourages them to improve their abilities.
Under the initiative, people living below the poverty line (BPL) will be given financial assistance to help them satisfy their basic requirements, educate their children, and provide work possibilities.
Small entrepreneurs from BPL families can apply for a loan of up to Rs.4 lakhs under the Johar Scheme to set up poultry farms in the state. The Government expects that by making such loans available, it will be able to provide more job prospects for unemployed youth.
