    One of the premier institutions in shaping the future of education in Andhra Pradesh is A.L. College of Education, Guntur. The college was started in the year 1965. Situated near the Ambedkar Statue, Guntur, this affiliated college has catered to the needs of aspiring educators with numerous amenities for more than five decades. The institution is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, NAAC, and approved by the National Council for Teacher Education, NCTE. Spread over a 12-acre campus, AL College of Education offers three special courses in education, with a total student intake of 247. The faculty strength is 25 experienced educators, which enables the college to maintain a good student-to-teacher ratio, thus offering individual attention and support. 

    A.L. College of Education has a host of facilities to make the learning process enriching for students. The library is well-stocked and can be referred to as a knowledge hub, with an abundance of educational resources. Students who have a penchant for sports are free to use the many athletic facilities put in place by the college, aiming to support the physical well-being of students as much as their academic growth. The institution is fully aware of the role technology is playing in modern education and hence has in place excellent IT infrastructure to help students stay ahead in the digital game.     AL College of Education offers three courses, each targeted at a different stage of teacher education. This makes the academic portfolio comprising D.Ed, B.Ed., and M.Ed. two-year programmes. With an approved total intake of 200 students in these courses, the institute has served an important function in meeting the regional demand for qualified teachers. The D.Ed. course has an intake of 50 students and provides foundational input to students who wish to take up the profession of teaching at the primary school level. The B.Ed., its mainstay, has the largest intake of students—100 in the course—thereby preparing the graduate for teaching at the secondary school level. The M.Ed. course offers 50 seats to students desirous of taking up teaching at the higher education level or seeking advanced pedagogical knowledge.

    The admission process in AL College of Education is strict, as the selection here is solely on merit, and thus only admits the most dedicated and capable candidates into the programmes. For the B.Ed course, one has to qualify in the B.Ed Common Entrance Test conducted by the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education. This test is conducted at the state level and is aimed at assessing the aptitude and knowledge of people who intend to take up teaching as a profession. Admission into the M.Ed programme is conducted by Acharya Nagarjuna University based on the performance of the candidate in the Common Entrance Examination conducted by Acharya Nagarjuna University. Admission to the D.Ed course is based on merit, computed from the qualifying examination marks or through entrance examinations conducted by the various state governments.
