BKD College of Education for Women was started in 1999 and is an affiliated college in Paonta Sahib, Himachal Pradesh. The mission of this women’s only college is to deliver quality education in the context of teaching profession. Located in a campus measuring 2 Acres it is an approved college under the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The total number of students for BKD College is 164 and total number of faculty members is 10 thus making it a professional college that provides proper exposure to learners undergoing studies for becoming faculty members.

The BKD College of Education for Women owns facilities which are aimed at improving the learning environment of the college as well as benefiting the students in their college. The school library accommodates 5481 books and 11 journals to support the learning activities of the students. In this regard, the available specialty laboratories include Physical Science, Life Science, Educational Technology, Psychology, Computer, Social Science, and Language laboratories to support skills practical. As for the enhancing of out-station students convenience, the college has provided the girls’ hostel facility. The institution also has an auditorium with 100 students’ seisin for academic and cultural performances. Other facilities are a health center with provisions for initially treating injuries and illnesses, a cafeteria for the staffs and students, and a host of games and sports facilities to promote an educ tote for growth and development.

At present, BKD College of Education for Women provides two regular course in the field of education only. The B.Ed programme has an intake capacity of 100 and the D.El.Ed programme has an intake capacity of fifty. Each of the courses lasts two years, and the major goal of both programmes is to produce qualified teachers. The criterion used in this college for admission is merit which is arrived at through entrance tests at the BKD College of Education for Women. For the B.Ed programme the admission is given out on the merit of the Entrance test taken by Entrance Test Section of Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. Likewise, for D.El.Ed programme admission is done strictly on merit of the marks scored in the entrance examination held by the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education Dharamshala.
