BNV College of Teacher Education, Thiruvallam (BNCTE), has made a reputation and prominence as college dedicated to the education of the future. This affiliated college was set up in 2005 and is in Thiruvananthapuram in the state of Kerala. The college is spread over 5 acres of land approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) to set high standards of teacher education. It provides three full time courses in education having total intake of 97 plus sixteen faculty members. In terms of the students’ gender distribution, the college stays gender neutral and allows the enroled students of both genders.
BNVCTE provides various services intended for improving the learning process of the students. These are-food service facilities, gym/workout facilities, laundry-vlecture, entertainment lounges, well stocked library with over 6000 books that make specialised in education faculty. Modern IT facilities are also available on the campus making sure that the students adapt to current technological developments in learning. For human development, a facility of sports events and an auditorium for cultural as well as academic shows is provided at BNVCTE. BNVCTE has provided three courses to the trainee teacher education programmes at three different levels. Each is designed as a full-time two-year programme in recognition of the fact for which the college is committed to offering a broad and thorough preparation of teachers.

BNV College of Teacher Education has a highly competitive admission policy, which means that admission is, in most cases, given to students based on their performance in their previous year’s exams. For the B.Ed programme, the admission process of marks secured in qualifying examination along with the entrance examination policy of the state government, UT administration and affiliated university is taken into consideration. The M.Ed programme is also laid down in the same pattern, candidates will be assessed based on the performance of the qualifying examination, entrance test or any other method prescribed by the concerned authority. The D.El.Ed programme also has merit based admission policy outsourcing marks of the qualifying examination/entrance test as per state/UT norms. Degree wise Admission Process

Admission to this program is conducted on the basis of marks obtained at the qualifying examination and entrance examination as per the rules of the state government, UT administration, and affiliated university. Candidates having completed their bachelor's degree in the subject concerned can apply for this program.
M.Ed (Master of Education): 50 seats are available for the M.Ed program at BNCTE. The admission procedure for M.Ed is similar to the B.Ed program. Candidates are evaluated on their performance in the qualifying examination (typically a B.Ed degree) and an entrance examination. Any other selection criteria as per the concerned authority can also be included in the selection process. In this way, only the most competent and motivated candidates are admitted to the advanced teacher education programs.
D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education): D.El.Ed at BNCTE also has an intake of 50 seats. Admission to this program is merit-based, depending upon the marks secured in the qualifying examination and/or an entrance test as per the directions of the state or UT administration. The program is for candidates specializing in elementary education and is usually eligible to those who have completed their higher secondary level of schooling (10+2).
